    Kenny's 2001 NH-0 DC2 Type R

    Hi All,

I've been meaning to put up a build thread on my car for sometime now but seeing all these new threads go up I finally forced myself to do it.

Being in the Honda scene since 2005 I've owned numerous honda's before, here are 2 noticeable previous builds of mine:
2005-2009, by far the best honda I've owned until the ITR. This was the first love of my life and definitely the most expensive as I went through 7 sets of wheels during my ownership lol

2012-2014. By far the worse decision I made was getting an em1. It was heavy and slow and the chasis never felt as tight as an eg/dc chasis.

Anyways fast forward to the end of 2014, I was looking for a DC2 Type R for a good 4 months constantly checking everyday on all forums, carsales, etc. and nothing just seemed to come up that ticked my criteria. White was the only option I was willing to settle for. During December 14', the car I ended up buying was listed and sat there for a good 2 months due to the price being so high. I decided to call the seller and questioned everything about it, made an arrangement to fly down to VIC to see it. Came back not buying it as I was sceptical to why the rear was a bit oxidised and worried that the only way to fix it was a respray which was definitely a no for me. Other then the paint she was immaculate. Speaking to Alex P who owns a white dc2r on here as well, he told me the paint was single stage meaning the clear coat, paint, and primer was all in one hence a cut and polish would solve the problem so I got on the phone with the seller again and told her I would put a deposit down. Yes I said HER lol she was the first owner since it rolled off the showroom floor at East Doncaster Honda. The car was garaged, neglected and has not been driven in the past 5 years prior to me purchasing it, it hadn't been washed for that long. She told me it was constantly started up over the years but never really went anywhere with it and the service records matched what she said. I feel very grateful and privileged to own this ITR as now I look back it's probably in the 1% bracket of the most immaculate ITR's out there. Only one other CW dc2r that surpasses mine is Tom's who has been looking for years until recently he got his.

Here's how she looked when picking her up:

After bringing her home and doing a full check on it, I must say I am very impressed not one greasy spot on the head and bottom end. No fluid leaks or torn cv boots. Here's how she looked when I got home and after a vacuum and clean.

Fast track another 6 months and here's how she sits today, only changes are red shift boot, brand new blitz pod intake, oem optional rear strut bar, oem window visors, Blackvue Dash Cam hardwired, Type Rx pedals, and the notorious jdm 16" wheels. I have spent countless hours maintaining her and keeping her tidy and in line.

Seats out for a clean I even bought an extra pair of recaros to swap out the parts I didn't like on my pair which was the driver side bolster cover and bolster.

More to come, 16" regamasters are on the way to save weight from the stock wheels. I personally like stock ITR's as they're so hard to find and hold their values very well compared to tinkered ones thus I refuse to do anything to it and leave it the way it is. None of the silly jdm fronts, lowered look, gurney flaps etc. lol

That's it for now, thanks for reading.

So nice to see a stock DC2R...as much as mine is modified and stripped for track work, I really enjoy seeing a mint, stock DC2R

Cheers Alex. Maybe because mine was unusually slow lol My clutch was on the way out as well.

Thanks bro. You dc2r was clean and you sold it for too cheap! Ed told me to buy yours when I was looking but I was so adamant on white. Hope you come back to a ITR one day.

                        So here's a quick update.

Had brand new Type RX pedals sitting for couple weeks, decide to get them installed on Wednesday and finished them just yesterday. I ran into problems with the brake pedal and learnt the hard way that they weren't suppose to come out and to mount the plate over the existing pedal by removing the rubber, drilling 3 holes and pop riveting them. For those who are planning to install them be prepared to swear scream kick and punch something because it was a pain to install lol

Comparison with the old next to new.

                        Final product

On another note, these came through the door couple days ago.
