So another track day is complete, heres the wrap up.
Me and my mate made our way to Wakefield park on saturday morning for a track day hosted by Trackday Club, freezing, foggy and no one on the road...
I went out for my first session on a cold track with T1 still covered with oil and absorbent from the event the day before, with a passenger in the car I managed to beat my previous 1:14.3 on the 2nd lap with a 1:13.2, over a second faster already, the car felt good and things were looking up.
There were 4 groups on the day, i was in group B, full of porsches, maserati's and other very expensive cars that no one wanted to push too hard, so i went out in my 2nd session and immediately ran into traffic for about 6 laps of my 8, i did get 2 decent laps in and again bettered my time with a 1:12.5. This was my goal time but I was yet to use the cars full potential. I was beginning to push the car a little harder and I was starting to experience very aggressive oversteer mid corner and getting on the throttle on the exit, so i got back to the pits and softened my rear dampers by 5 clicks and geared up for my next session.
3rd session out and again running into traffic for almost the whole session, with 2 proper laps I achieved a 1:12.1 still experiencing massive oversteer and having some very hairy moments. When i got back to the pits i spoke to Jimmy from BYP and he suggested disconnecting the rear sway bar to make the rear less twitchy and stiffening the rear dampers 4 clicks away from the stiffest, so i jacked the rear up and removed one of the end links.
After my 3rd session i decided to approach one of the organisers on the day to see if i could move up to group A to eliminate getting held up so much, they were glad to move me up. So i went out again this time in the fastest group with a passenger in the car, immediately i could feel the front end has lost a little bit of sharpness and there was slight understeer added, however i was not worried because the rear end felt WAY better, this adjustment suited my driving style perfectly, i could get on the power early and the rear end would stay put, the car felt much faster and with little to no traffic i cracked the 11's, a 1:11.5 with a passenger, after this session i was very confident that i could dip into the 1:10's.
My final session of the day was up and this time i didn't have the added weight of a passenger, however, 2 laps into the session a car had broken down and had to be towed off so everyone was back to the pits, this gave me very limited time when we went back out. After going back out I got one flying lap in before running into a commodore and the session was over. PB 1:11.3
Quite disappointed because i could feel the 1:10's coming but the time was against me, Oh well, it was a trouble free day for the s2, ever so reliable and didn't burn a drop of oil
Heres a video of that flying lap, i pushed on for another lap after this one but i was right up against the VL through the corners and couldn't get on the power as early as i would have liked out of the corners.

After today I have decided to keep these tyres for the next track day so i can push my driving skills and hopefully crack the 1:09's on an average tyre, instead i might push my money towards an after market ATS or OS Giken LSD, we'll see what happens within the next few weeks. My next scheduled track day is on the 9th of septemberLast edited by steve d; 10-08-14, 11:15 AM.

How were the new Zeta's out in the track compared to the OEM seats?
The Zeta's were awesome, The biggest difference was the transition from left to right at T3 and T4 and around the sweeper when you would be thrown out of position a little, you dont move in these seats and you can keep perfect driver position, it's amazing how much of a difference seats can make to a lap.
