haha you know you want to do it!

Pulled my sump off this arvo to get a Tegiwa baffle plate installed.

Now i'm pretty much set for Friday at SMSP, hoping for a problem free day to get to know the track, can't wait!

How long does it take to remove the sump from the car?

Not as long as the DC5 that's for sure. Considering the subframe isn't in the way of the sump in the S2000.

it's pretty straight forward, took about an hour due to the supercharger bracket being bolted to it, therefor i had to unbolt the charger and move it to get the bolts out, would be much easier and quicker if it was any other s2k

What do you think about the Tegiwa shift extender? I'm considering getting one

I'm liking it so far, it keeps your hand closer to the steering wheel which is good when driving the car hard, it should be good on the track

So my first track day at SMSP is done and dusted and it was freaking awesome, this track is really next level.

I got to the track at around 7:15 and was lucky enough to find a pit garage spot, these spots were filling up fast, i was then joined by BYP in their rental EG and a couple of other guys, one of whom was tracking his new Porsche GT3, amazing car.

So i went out for my first session and the first thing i thought was theres soooo much room on this track lol. I was very conservative in the first session only revving the car out to about 7500 just to ease my way into the power band and the track, came to turn 1 and i definitely sh!t myself. Lap after lap i was getting consistent 1:57-8's which i was very happy with seeing as my goal was to get into the 50's.

In my second session I grew some balls and started to push the car a little more and brake a lot later into T1, doing that netted me a 1:52.78. Now i was very pleased and i thought i could get into the 40's with ease as i'm not even pushing the car to it's limits and my lines still aren't the best.
3rd session came around and a few laps in i noticed my brakes grinding, my rear pads were shot and scraping on the warning tabs so at lunch time Jimmy went down to the shop to get me some new ferrodo pads, while he was doing that i pulled the old ones out.

I got the new pads in just in time for the 4th session, the brakes felt so much better in this session and i was starting to get some consistent pace, 1:51's and 52's for 6 laps in a row the best of them all being a 51.372, but i was starting to push the car a little too hard and my suspension setup was starting to show signs of poor quality, you will notice in the video that i can hardly ride the bumps in the track without the car getting difficult. I had made an adjustment throughout the day to soften the rear dampers 5 clicks, it did help but not enough.

5th and last session for me, went out and pushed to the cars limits and did a PB of 1:51.06, on that lap i was held up slightly by a commodore so there could have been 1-2 seconds there but oh well, i had to back out early in this session due to some sort of electrical issue causing the voltage to fluctuate and not stay at 14.1v, i'll be having a look at that today, hoping the heat of the day just killed the battery, we'll see.

Must do mods before going out there again...
                  gt wing
                  fuel serge tank
                  better coilovers

Heres a video of my 1st, 2nd and 3rd lap in the final session.
1st lap i was held up by the dirty skyline...1:55.90
2nd lap was my PB 1:51.06
                  3rd was 1:51.52
fastest i did down the straight on the day was 225kph

Well done on the times man, there's way more in it especially once you get a wing and better coilovers
Why the surge tank? Did you have fuel cut on t1?

Thanks man, yeah there definitely is.
I had to keep the tank above 3/4 throughout the day or it would fuel cut at T2, it happened once when it got under 3/4

Nice driving man! I used your video as reference for my first trackday at wakefield so I'll have to look back at this one later on when I finally do a trackday at smsp.

Can definitely see what you mean with the coilovers not being up to scratch. Any ideas on what you'll upgrade to?

Cat wait to see what times you can achieve once you do a few little upgrades 😊

Thanks man, glad to know i'm helping someone out with the video's!
I'm not sure what ill upgrade to, after i purchase the necessities like a serge tank ill probably bolt a gt wing on and see how that works, then i'll look at other coilovers, not sure which ones at the moment. It's just little things that should make massive improvements to my time at smsp, along with me growing balls and getting on the power earlier lol.

Once again awesome work with SMSP.

I also used your Wakefield videos as reference, of which helped me a lot!

Don't think I'll ever make it to SMSP though.

SMSP is only an extra 2 hours passed wakefield!
