45SET is back in the game... Kinda...

    Hi all,

Well after a 9 month hiatus after selling my K24 DC5R, I'm back in the game! Some of you who are friends of mine of FB would have seen my new purchase, for those that haven't...

    It's:
    Blue
    FWD
    2L N/A
    VVT
    3 Door Hatch
    Brembos
Pumped guards - Front and Rear
Heat vents in the front guards
    Working rear diffuser
    European

    2008 RenaultSport Clio 197

After looking for something for a good 4 months, this is the only car I got into, drove and had a massive smile on my face. The only other car was a bigger brother to the Clio, a RenaultSport Megane 225 Cup. Only reason I picked the Clio over the Megane was the seating position is horrible in the Megane, and considering I'm 187cm, I just couldn't deal with it. Otherwise, everything else about it (Bar the rear end) was fantastic.

There are no plans for the Clio, as I'm still a full time student, but I do hope to get along to a ClubITR meet in the future, and if I've done all my assignments, I might even try to get out and spectate at the Honda nationals.

    See you all soon!

If I can figure out where the next meet is, I'll be there.

Yeah the one with the Recaros is an R27, which are still 22k+. Being a full time student I had to limit my budget to 16k.

Paint, stickers, recaros, and a fair bit of suspension (springs, dampers & sways I think). I can only imagine what it woulddrive like. My 197 is totally stock, yet it drives like the Integra did with coils and sways... They also run electronic steering, which is perfectly weighted. It truely is an amazing car.

                  Very clean purchase.

Be mindful of the fact that they are not a cheap car to maintain tho.

                  Happy motoring

A lot of people say that about European cars, but its an incorrect stigma that is attached to them. Previous owner was paying the same for a general service as what I use to pay for the Integra.

I know first hand that once something breaks, especially on the french cars, expect to see a minimum bill of $650.

I remember working on a renault s16 and it took us a month to find a second hand gbox and the customer ended up paying $1950 for it (not including labour)

Servicing is not what kills, its everything else that will...

An S16... From the early 90's? I'm not being rude or disagreeing with you, but I know that a lot of the European manufacturer made a half assed effort in the past when it came to selling a car in Australia (mainly after purchase). After reading a lot if reviews, and forums, it seems they've picked up there game since the mid 2000's. Renault, Citroen & Peugeot are not relatively well know brands in this country, and they cant really afford the stories like yours.

I use to own a Seat Ibiza GTI, and I never once had problems sorting parts just had to fins the right person, who had the right contacts.
