Update : Engine Tear down diagnosis

We had a chance last weekend to rip out the engine and tear it down to see what actually went wrong. To our surprise the head is still in tact and will only need a quick service and replacement of a few valves (not bent but i'd rather change them to be safe). The bottom end on the other hand is a different story. We had all suspected the sleeved to be cracked due to heating issues we encountered during the day. It seems like the stock K24 sleeves are stronger than expected. No signs of any cracks. I could say something different about the rods, as both rods in cylinder 1 and 2 let go. Its made a mess on the bottom end!. Both snap in the middle of the rod. We've had put this down to RPM's and engine fatigue

People will need to remember that this motor was in the BYP Civic for 3 Rounds and now in the BYP DC2R for 6 trackdays. Its been pushed and tuned to maximise its power level on Race E85. Holding 8300rpms for a few seconds down the straights of EC certianly doesnt help engine longivity. But i must say, im certainly impressed with its performance. Making close to 300kw's at the wheels, its been apart of lap records at both Wkaefield Park and Eastern Creek

Be sure to keep track of this car as it head into the next stage of development. It's certainly won't be road registered again. Did someone say weight reduction, more power and more aero

so basically you could assume that with forged rods an otherwise stock K24 can easily handle around 250kwatw for a long period of time?

              good info.

Sad to hear she wont be road registered, i was enjoying boasting about the DC2R being the fastest road registered car at WP.

Might aswell build her then hey? Bar the sleeves, would be good to see how far they can go.

How did the valvetrain hold up with the stage 2's?
