Exclusive thread to ClubITR PROJECT ONE MINUTE - BUILT.TUNED.DRIVEN BYP RACING AND DEVELOPMENTS
As some of your know or will know now, we purchased Sam (Monty) J's Racing DC5R a few months ago. Conversation started off with the intentions of purchasing his brakes which ended up to the whole shell and the associated parts left on the car.
Since trailing the car back we haven't done much work on the car besides pulling out the k20a and its running gear. Just going thru the car what has been sold off and making together a shopping list of what is needed to get the car rolling again. Fast forward few weeks, decided to rip off the vinyl. Upon taking off the vinyl there was a nice key mark left on the left hand side of the car from the door to the rear left quater . Looks like a complete respray.
Why we called it PROJECT ONE MINUTE? Simple, try to smash Wakefield park raceway in a FWD 1.00 min/ 60 secs. It'll be a tough challenge but can be done! We will strive our best to conquer the huge goal set ahead of us. With the now retired BYP EG its best of 1.02.3 a 2.3sec faster with a heavier chassis will be a challenge. Giving its disadvantage due to weight, the DC5R has its advantages being a sedan type body will have better aero aids, longer wheel base and suspension geometry.
With the new chassis and havn't really tinker around with dc5r much, we started to do some research on what suspension component is needed to make it into a track warrior. Going thru ChargerR thread (thanks TOM for the great build thread) its given me a great base what will work on the dc5r without too much fiddling around.
Plans are to strip as much weight out of the car as possible, I know Sam as done some of this but further can be taken out. Will be opting with CF Doors, rear trunk which will help reduce weight. New APR CF GTC 300 wing
has been ordered to help with rear downforce with some custom wing stands to bolt up to the rear CF trunk lid. Goal target in weight wise will be 1050kg WET. With driver anywhere from 1100-1150.
Powerplant wise it'll be a hybrid again with the aid of a k20a type R head and a stock k24 bottom end with reliability mods to make it survive. More about the motor specs abit later when a final decision has been made. A new supercharger will be used, C38-91. The bigger brother from the C38-61 it will produce close to 20psi and were hoping to push close to the 400kw mark.
We'll be retaining the old gearbox from the BYP EG which consist of GEAR-X close gear set, 4.3 FD and ATS LSD. Being a dealer for GEAR-X We'll be testing the new GEAR-X dog box early next year. Slight lift off/ No clutch shifting will be awesome
Here are some pics from iphone i took test fitting the wheels.
Specs are 18x10 +20mm 265/35/18 fronts and 18x9 +20mm rears 235/40/18
