need help with choosing as well!

hey guys been having a dilemna about which car to choose lately until i came across this thread:http://forum.clubitr.com.au/showthread.php?t=7074

hope you guys don't mind helping me out as well.

i live in sydney nsw and i need help choosing which car to get or which car to look at first as i am extremely busy with uni+work.

ok i always wanted a PY JDM front dc2r, but i've been searching since late january this year and found 2 examples, i missed out on both because i hesitated due to budget constraints. so instead i decided to get an AUDM and do the jdm front conversion later on when i save up enough money.

basically my budget is around the 18k mark but i can stretch it a bit further maybe 20k if the car is immaculate but prefer not to go that far.
    so here are the candidates:
    number 1:

    number 2

i really like the look of this one even though its not yellow, but is he asking a little too much? i've already spoken to him and the lowest he will go is 21k which i probably can reach.

    number 3

has got jdm front, but kms are a bit high for me.

my brother has been telling me to get a dc5 if i'm gonna spend around the 20k mark and this one seems reasonably good priced. however, i have yet to test drive a dc5 and am not sure if it's a good choice. (i drove my neighbor's dc2r and i loved it)

    looks immaculate to me.

please let me know what you all think.

another problem is: i'm on my p-plates and this gonna be my first car so i don't know that much about cars yet. hanny's performance centre in Smithfield was recommended to me by a member from ozhonda and i was planning to take the car there for a pre-purchase inspection: (option 1, 2 and 3 which are not too far from Smithfield). however, with other locations in sydney it would be unreasonable to make them drive down here for an inspection. so i was wondering if you guys could recommend any other mechanics in other areas of sydney or if anyone who has had an itr or knows a lot about them to actually be kind enough to come with me during inspections further from Smithfield.

thank you all in advance and sorry for the wall of text.

take them all for a drive. decide based on what u feel is a better car.
I would choose the DC5R. to me it makes no sense to spend 20k for a DC2 when a DC5 with similar milage is there to choose from.

I would have to agree with Didz about the dc5r however you may want to ask why the recaros were replaced.

You should have a hard think about what you really want. If you've always wanted a PY dc2r, you should try and go with that. Depending of course on how patient you are

As Didz said, take them all for test drives and get a feel for them. Mileage is important but the service history and general condition of the car is what you should be looking for. In regards to inspections, maybe you should look into the mobile inspections? I haven't heard too much about them but I've been told they are essentially the same as workshop inspections with an additional cost for driving out to you.

Good luck with your search. I'm also looking for a white dc5s, praying for one to pop up lol

black d2r with orange rims is david (MILKMAN) on this forum. It's got quality mods hence the price compared to the other black dc2r.

Chris' yellow dc2r is well maintained and some nice mods on it.

I don't really want to, but you know me all I do these days is go bike riding! I need something that has a tow bar or roof racks. I think. I am not actively selling it though, I am having second thoughts now.. roof racks on a DC2R.. hmm.

Anyhow, Tony.. My car is actually serviced by Hannys in Smithfield (minors). They know their shit when it comes to Honda's (that's all they do). Just don't ask Mr Robert to install a mod, you get told off! haha For that kind of stuff I goto IS Motorracing..

Yeap, mine is exxy, I know that.. but price up some of the mods on it, (ie. the coilovers).

I spent 1.5yrs looking for mine. I too wanted PY, but missed out on an immac one by $100 (fuck) - I didn't want to get into a bidding war with the other buyer!! lol. Spent another 6months or so driving various DC2R's before I found this one. It was amazing compared to the other average ones I looked at and I was happy to pay a premium for it. Both previous owners are also clubITR members, funnily enough (BF & Justified). So I knew its history..

I think the best thing for you to do is to go drive both dc2rs and dc5r's. Drive as many of them as you can so you get a feel for which you prefer and what a good and bad one feels like.

Anyhow, I am more than happy help... been there done that myself!

thank you all for you advice, i'll try my best to make time to go and test drive as many as i can.

thanks milkman when you say "Anyhow, I am more than happy help... been there done that myself!" does that mean you're willing to go car hunting with me? :O or was that more like a 'I'm happy to answer any questions kinda thing xD'
