    Hosting!

Ok, we've hit another snag with hosting.
Seems webcity have a 400mb limit on their MySQL database.
I will either have to turn off image attachments or move to another host.
I'm leaning towards turning off attachments as webcity does seem nice and fast.

Already asked about purchasing a bigger database limit but it's not something they do. I've got 7 days to do something about it as of today.

Thought I'd post it here for comments instead of behind closed doors with the mods.

I'm with http://www.jumba.com.au have been for a fairly long time, its cheap or was. and has had great uptime and hardly any restrictions.

Another thought might be to just purge attachements that are say >6months old? or something along those lines

I'm happy to have the image attachment feature removed as I tend to use photobucket for all my photo hosting needs these days. I've noticed a number of other users also host their images on imageshack so I personally don't see it being a huge problem.

Yeh, its not a difficult task to have a photobucket account. The website has special links so that you cant screw the code up as well!

Thanks guys, I actually found a simple way around it.
Moved attachments out of the database and store it on disk. Now it's like 127mb in size

Try and run maintenance on your db and maybe compact it also.
400 mb is a lot for sql guess we are post whores

Bringing this back to light. friggen CPU usage has jumped up to 200% so it's either shut down or I export the SQL database and someone else takes over clubitr.

cpu usage is so high because you separated the attachments from the sql database?
can you cull attachments from certain sections of the forum? like the lounge?
half the point of this site was to store the diy instructions and info that people put up. Imo you must keep the attachments in the technical section at the very least.
                        everything else is a bonus.

is the images still on the sql database or is it on the physical hosting?
