    Mahon Pool Sunrise

The last time I visited Mahon Pool for a sunrise shoot was 11th May 2008. Almost exactly a year later on 11th April 2009 I was there again. Talk about coincidence eh?!

This time the weapon of choice was of course the 5D Mark II and 16-35mm II combo. I have a set of Lee graduated filters but I don’t have the ring adapter to fit the lens which resulted in overblown skies in some of the shots. Perhaps it is time to consider purchasing the 82mm wide angle ring adapter and 105mm Circular Polarizer to stack along with the graduated filters.

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful sunrise that day. The colors were simply amazing, the wind wasn’t too strong and I went home not only with dry feet but amazing photos. By the way, see if you can spot me in the photos?

    9. You can see from this shot here the tide was rising real quick! I was extremely lucky as a huge wave hit the spot I was at just after I left!

Thanks for looking guys! Hope you all enjoyed this series

          Cheers guys!

LOL Dave! I generally prefer sunrise but you can get that sort of color during sunset too. Just really depends if the location is a sunrise or sunset one

how can you have a shadow infront of you when photographing the sunset?

was there a close cliff behind you?

There were flood lights that lit the pool behind me where I was standing. Didn't occur to me too until I fired off a couple of shots and inspected in on the camera. Luckily I wasn't using film!
