Everyone must have realised that i have been posting lightly of late. Whats the reason? I have been riding my bike too much. Not the one of the moto variety but of the pedaling variety.
Ever since i was a kid i was riding my bike as most of us do. It was my form of transportation and freedom before cars. Long before modifying cars i was modifying bikes. Many of the aspects of modifying cars came from that. However due to a lack of information sharing and internet back when i was a kid i never really rode "offroad" and on trails. Earlier on in the year Justin fox and i was just chatting randomly when suddenly we recalled our biking experience. We instantly got stuck into researching bikes and etc.
The form of researching and learning is intoxicating to me and is similar to researching components for your car or researching what car to buy next. We headed into the scene completely n00b style and i am proud to say that after almost a complete year we know something now It is a very different scene to JDM tuning but at the same time it is also very similar. I have attended events at canberra and lately just last week at newtown the internation bike film festival which is not too different to car meets or events.
Riding has become a culture as such and what started out to be something i do maybe once a weekend have gone into a full fledged 3 times a week. If i dont ride for a week i feel shat. Towards the start of the year i also started running 4 times a week and combined with biking it has changed the way i look and feel as a person. It is amazing how someone feels when they have shed 8kgs of unneeded fat *i have to admit i am pretty freaking light now and i hope i dont lose anymore weight*.
Over on jdmst we have a massive thread dedicated to people getting into the sport and general questions re bikes offroad and onroad. Most of the people that have chimed in have expressed that they wanted to do a form of excercise but didn't want it to be a chore. Many of those people have ended up buying bikes and subsquently came out with us riding as well. Felix is one of the first guys that got into biking after Justin and I and he can certainly tell you the exlihirating feeling of tearing up a downhill down a singletrack with trees eitherside of you.
Point of this post? I know not everyones into biking, not everyone even loves excercising. However if you have even thought about it slightly or thought about riding but dont know how/where/who/when to ride with then i am here to help. I would be glad to answer your questions on anything from jokes and giggles to buying advice of bikes to where to ride or even taking you around trails around sydney. Overall you can add a new activity to your life, have fun doing it and stay ultra fit as a byproduct.
I still love cars, massively, but i love riding too
