same thing happened to my mum a year or so ago....everything got repaired thru insurance because, like you, she got the rego.

So hopefully things work out of you too, not trying to get your hopes up, just letting you know you've got a chance at least.

So it was minor damage I'm assuming? Either way, if she was at fault and drove off; thats just wrong.

Its good you did get a Number plate. However, I dont think you can do anything with it at QLD Transport though due to "privacy laws". You will need a police report. If they tell you to ring your insurance, just go to another police station. Which one did you go to out of curiosity?

Small or not, if the story is how it goes, it is still considered a hit and run. If you or any passengers were injured, thats criminal compensation. you can get details of the other vehicle through QLD Transport if its a criminal compensation matter, but then you will need to go through lawyers. Gets a bit messy

If this was in traffic, why didn't you get out as soon as you felt it?

          Hi Tofu,

First step, you got her rego? Report it.

Lodge a claim with your insurance co. all you will need is her rego number they will do the rest.

It is their job they are the experts and I'm sure they see this sh t everyday.

My mum recently had the same problem and the driver denied hitting us. However, we explained it to our insurance co and they took care of the rest. We weren't hit (excuse the pun) with an excess on the claim, so I can only assume they cleared it up with the driver at fault.

because it happened on the highway...
if you know Riverside Expressway in Brisbane, you will know what I mean.

I lodged it with my insurance, but now I need to go back to the cop shop to do a report...Coorparoo police station, really odd people there.

i went to do a report at the cop shop today....man why are cops so reluctant to do these reports...thought it's meant to be a cut and dry simple procedure.
he said he'll contact the other person first and get an ok to pass their details to me...

seems like they hate paperwork or something..

Easiest is to ask for the police officer's name and badge number. Don't mention that you are going to make a complaint about his reluctant, but it will more than enough to get his ass up the chair to do a report for you

If its a simple minor accident with both parties details swapped, its fair enough that you don't need a report from them. But if its a hit & run, its a criminal offence and has to be reported. Also, get a medical checkup done. My neck hurts only after a few hrs or a day later. You never know if you are hurt one way or another. You can claim the medical bills back....but only through that gal's 3rd party insurance (not her comprehensive insurer)

just for other people's reference (i just told jeff about it)

what you can do is go to queensland transport, submit a stat dec explaining the incident, and pay a nominal fee, they can then give you all the detail of that vehicle just from the number plate (owner's detail, insurance detail etc)

then you can submit your claim to your insurance company

^Should have had them check the cameras at the toll.

But that is fucking disgusting, some people are just scum.
