*sigh* got back from hk not long ago... and now ive decided to get a ps3 because of guitar hero...

looking to get a ps3 and even at a hk website such as games-asia and playasia they ran out of 80gb version... and apparently sony scrap out both and 80 and 60gb... so only 40gb is available... why?!?!?!

i heard tat ps2 games wont work with the 40gb and below... *sigh* is there any other option there for me?? is it worth it to get 80gb from ebay??

any help would be good as i dont know much about ps3s... thx guys!

hey mate, yeh nah the 40gb version doesnt play PS2 games, and it loses a couple of usb ports...

I've got a 60GB version. I bought it back at JP launch. It cost me $1,300 but it has full BC and most BD movies aren't region locked. The NTSC console plays BDs from the US too which makes buying those movies even cheaper. I'm sure you could find a 60GB console on eBay. They could be quite expensive though with the newer consoles being gimped.

The only thing I'd like it to do is play PAL PS2 games. Does anyone know of a region unlock mod for the PS3?

I've pre ordered the US version. I've imported JP versions of games in the past and despite still being OK they're not 100%.

April 14th in the US from memory. We still don't have a CONFIRMED release date for Australia. That's why I choose to import where possible. The Australian divisions of MS, Sony and Nintendo are useless. Sony are the better of the bunch. I received my free copy of Casino Royale in just 1 week. They mailed 20,000 copies to people who registered their PS3s online.

On the other hand, I won a copy of DOAX2 from Microsoft. It took 14 weeks to arrive.

Noodleman, I couldn't wait. I just ordered the JAP version from Play Asia along with a Dual Shock 3 controller. That makes 2 copies on the way. I'll just eBay it when the US version arrives. Or keep it for that JDM authenticity. I'd like to see some Best Motoring style commentary featured on GT5. Have you seen any of the promised "live" features of GT5? They are planning to stream live launches of new cars and episodes of shows like Top Gear. I can't wait, especially seeing how gorgeous GT5P is.

Just the language. If you set your PS3 to English it will use more English but there is still majority Japanese text.
