    Was told Sony Bravia's the top of the top for LCD. Hence i got myself the Sony Bravia 40" W series. If anything, you just need to make sure the tv's 1080p compatible. Anything lower than 1080p or 1080i, is old school. All Sony Bravia (at least for the Full HD version) comes with built in tuner. Hence, no other extra expense needed.....except the need to get a HDMI cable to connect to your say PS3, HD/Bluray player....

      recently brought a 32 inch samsung lcd with built in hd tuner from bing lee negotiated price from $1399 to $1090, with 1080i, you wont need full hd unless you are planning to use it for ps3 or watch Blue Ray

              1080p = 1920 x 1080 resolution
              1080i = 1366 x 768 Resolution

                      I picked up a 42inch LG lcd from bing lee for $1600 about 4 months ago. 5ms response time, HD built in etc. Bargain.

                        I just picked up my samsung 40" 1080p lcd for 2k.

                        Not much to look for except to get 1080p and have lots of HDMI input (i have 3), should also come with HD tuner as standard.

                        Sony isn't the best panel, have a look at pioneer (not many stores stock them), but I always use them as a bench mark to compare the more "affordable" LCD's.

                            there's no point in getting 1080p TV if you don't have anything that can play 1080p (ie Blu-Ray or HD-DVD)
                            But for gaming, you can really notice the difference in 1080i vs 1080p

                              wont be gaming, or using HD-DVD so any 1080i will be fine?

                              i am probly going to get a 7.1 ch receiver too, all with HDMI in/out...

                              eddie - i heard there are only 3 LCD screen manufacturers in the world... all they do is rate each screen then decide who to sell it to, LOL!
