If you think it's abit expensive, you got to think how much extra you are getting when comparing to a Polo GTI.

For how a Colt fare on track, i'm sure those who went to the latest Circuit Club at Eastern Creek can testify on a totally brand new stock Colt fare.

But either way, you will be happy. Polo GTI is always on my shopping list until i decided on the Ralliart. Polo is more refined, more class, hence more suitable for streets. Colt is more raw, more sport focus, hence more for track.
Yeah very true in that aspect lovesil - which is why I was interested in the Colt first - it looks helluva more aggresive than the Polo.

However, after test driving the Polo I was extremely surprised how responsive the little thing was - and the engine sounded like a little beast haha ... I was converted...

Also hearing about the ECU which can get the Polo upto 150kw atw is someting I want to try - To mod the Colt upto the same power figures is going to be alot more expensive...

No doubt it's easier and cheaper for the Polo to get 150kw (because it's 300cc more than the Colt), but you have to know that the hardwares on the Polo will make it hard to suppress that power. As mentioned before, Polo's brake ain't up to scratch. 150ftkw with crap brakes = dangerous. But then again, if it's only for street, i don't see a problem.

Go to vwvortex.com for more info on Polo. There's quite a few Polo GTI aus owner on there. There's a project Polo GTI thread on there. 200fwkw, changed turbo, changed intercooler, chipped and upgraded brakes from a Audi S3....

I was behind my friend's Polo GTi tonight and travelling in this nice twisty area, I noticed that he was entering the corners pretty quick and exit 'em nicely, though I wasn't sure if he was pushing it very hard coming out as I caught up pretty easily after coming out (2nd gear, coming out at around 6,000rpm)

lovesil: I should ask the people that already had their Polo chipped and see what they think... and how does the Polo cope with that amount of power - should be interesting.

And thanks for the link mate, would be some great topics over there!

hebe: He probably wanted you to catch up to his uBer L337 Gti, as he didn't want to lose you =P

Here's a clause from my contract (I waited 10 weeks for my Evo...so not as long as you) and I'm assuming it would be the same on yours...under Terms and Conditions

2.3 If the Dealer has not delivered the motor vehicle to the Customer within thirty (30) days of the estimated delivery date, the Customer may by notice in writing to the Dealer rescind this contract.

However, the following clause is one that is important and only just realised I signed it without reading it properly (doesn't matter since I have the car now and got it within 30 days of the estimated day of delivery...but could've been quite bad)

2.4 Both the Dealer and the Customer acknowledge by signing this Clause in the space provided below that the motor vehicle is of unusual design and combines unusual options and that the Customer waives his right to recission as provided in Clause 2.3

Since you don't even have an estimated delivery date, that means that these clauses can't even be applied and would assume you are binded to the contract since there isn't a 30 day period from the estimated delivery date, because there isn't an estimated delivery that 30 day period could be any time...

But going from what you have said above about being able to transfer your deposit to the Polo I guess you aren't binded to that contract...so I guess you should be fine.

...and from what I can see you much prefer the Polo now over the Civic

lovesil sold S14 for Ralliart Colt huh?

                  APR chip.

As for GTI or Civic sport.........ones is performance focus the other is not. Having said that the sport has more luxuries.

Hope you got your car by now.

manny: I will be selling my S14a this year and change into a Ralliart Colt. The list of reason is quite long, so i wouldn't list it here. Mitsubishi FTW

hebe: I would love to see that happening That's a Polo GTI heading to Wakefield next friday on vwvortex.com forum. I should see how the car do. But it's the virgin track for the owner...hence i wouldn't expect to see the true potential of the polo on track.

Thanks for the headsup Manny, much appreciated - but luckily for myself those dealers are in the same motor-group and worked something out between them to get my deposit transferred without getting myself screwed over! lol

hebe, be sure to update us whenever you get the chance to have a run with your friend, would be interesting to see

MKI4EVA those are some serious gains from just the APR chip, instant +30kw atw, very impressive! It's good to see that the Polo has so much potential from it's 1.8T engine~

Actually, i wouldn't even consider this as potential as yet. VW is virtually giving a detune to the 1.8T engine that's being used on so many other application. The APR chip is basically returning it back to its original tune.

Hehehe I won't be running him anytime soon, the road is too wet and I get no traction after 6000rpm, it's wheelspin heaven from 6000rpm onwards LOL

Guys I've finally made my decision and purchased the Polo Gti yesterday. The wait for the Civic just wasn't good enough so I opted for something that was already available.

I'm really excited and should be able to pick it up in a day or two - The car is GREAT FUN with a nice pricetag so I'm definitely happy about it

It ain't a Honda but I'm definitely gonna stick around! =D

Nice one! Which color did you pick?? I was looking at either black or dark blue when doing the research for Polo GTI.
