Coming to Melb

Hey guys

I’ll be going down to Melb in mid Feb with my GF... on a Holiday. As neither of us has ever really been there we aren't sure what we should see and do.

We have got a few places to go see from others that have travelled there (and one guy I work with)... but you can never have enough suggestions

We'll be flying down, we won't be renting a car, so we'll just be using public transport to get around and stuff (so no DC5r photo shoots... sorry guys )... so stuff that is easily accessible by public transport

Stuff on the "to do list" already is:

Areas to visit:

Southbank. Centre of Melb- Casino/nightlife/restaurants
St Kilda- Nightlife/clubs/bars/food
Docklands- Restaurants.
Chapel St- Shopping/cars.- Better on weekend and when it’s hot.
Zoo- Animals.
Fed Square- Centre of city. Couple of nice bars.


Outside Melb

Great Ocean Road. Very scenic, some nice towns like Lorne where u can stop for lunch etc. 2hr drive
Phillip Island- Penguins 2 hr drive
Torquey- Bells Bch- Good surf shops. 2hr drive.

GF has already decided we are going on the Great Ocean Road trip... which'll be a shame because I won't have the teg

So yeah... any helpful information would be great.

the mrs and i went down there back in november for the weekend.
was great! very very windy though..
public transport.. make sure you dont get off at souther corss station, as the DFO is just upstairs and trust me.. you wallet will hurt BIG time lol better than sydney's DFO imo
chapel st is tops! found many pieces of clothing.. your mrs will like chapel st.

Yeah my friend from work said to go check out Chapel St street as there are normally nice cars driving around... and hot chicks... so atleast i won't be bored

LOL... awesome. so far we are looking at the coming down on wednesday the 13th then going back monday 18th... just so we can stay for the weekend.

But I don't think she would be to keen on sitting at a car track all day... she can do taht in Brisbane at QLD raceway

So far the only thing she REALLY wants to do is the Great Ocean Road bus tour thing... oh and shopping

How much is the bus tour for the GOR? Why not hire out a car and explore it yourselves? You'd probably have more fun and save a bit of money that way.

tour i think she said is like $120 p.p. I wouldn't mind hiring out a car... but i'm only 21 (in 6 days)... and i can't rent a Fezza or Lambo yet

Driving even a hyundai excel would be more fun than sitting in a bus with a bunch of who-knows-what tourists (fobs?). Plus you get to do your own thing and take your own toilet breaks.

I think I might have some Entertainment Guide book vouchers that give you discounted car hire - let me know if your interested and I'll try and check it out when I get back home tonight.

yeah....like what mugsee said......that work out almost the same cost but you can control where to go....where to stop.....and how long you wanna to take ur pic break.....plus its a very great place to drive too.....I think I have a map lying around somewhere......or I may help you to grab one b4 you head down.....
