Yes it was the same driver from Fifth Gear, Vicki Butler Henderson. Therefore driver skill was the same. UK CTR was simply out-classed by the more track focused JDM version. Simply put, the JDM CTR is a real Type R The UK/AU is more a Type S.

yes, compared to the FD2...

the FN2 is quite zippy in its own right compared even to some AUDM turbo hatches...
