2 Wheeled Honda of a different kid...

    Hey all,

A while back some may remember me asking about mini choppers... i bought one off ebay about a year ago, and bout 3 months in realised the motor on it is a Honda GX200 clone motor. You'll usually see these things on mowers, generators etc.

Anyways, got sick of the little 200cc's power so i started to look around for what people are doing to these motors as i knew they are commonly used in hire karts... to my surprise, in the states they go absolutely ape shit over these things, get them running on alcohol and stuff... so through a bunch if friendly guys at http://karting.4cycle.com i started on my mission to get more than 6.5 horse out of the little motor.

First, i removed the governor which prevents the motor from spinning past 3500rpm...

Its the little plastic cog in the top left hand side inside the casing

I ordered a stage 2 kit from NRRACING.com in the states which consisted of

    1) 18lb valve springs from a G200, to prevent valve float at revs above 3500, apparently you can spin them up to 5500 without worrying about the standard rod letting go (ARC forged rod on the way :-)) along with new retainers

    2) Rebored 15.5mm carb with adjustable jet and adaptor plate for K&N Style pod filter

    3) New headgasket from a GX160, .02mm vs .22mm, increases compression

    4) 8% advance timing key for the flywheel

    5) Small fan from a Gx120

On top of the kit, i got a breather filter for the crank case, decreased the valve lash big time (so loose OEM) and when i tried to start it it broke the recoil starter because of the extra compression, so i bought a new starter that belongs to a smalled motor hence the sticker on the side. Sleeper style 4.0hp LOL

Heres some fotos for your viewing pleasure... these mods are said to give you about 10.5 horse at about 5200rpm... it actually pulls really hard, it used to hit about 70-80km/h before, i havent opened her up completely yet (only pissy little rear drum brake, and slipping clutch) but it should see upwards of 100km/h hopefully!

    Future purchases:

    Disc brake front end
GX160 small chanber head with 3 angle valve job (This is the equivalent in a way of our B20vtec style fankenstein conversions, the GX160 head flows better and adds compression)
    Nitrous kit
Torque converter to handle the increase in power, and allow me to dial in the revs when it kicks in for hectic launches :-)

Eventually i want to get it running on alcohol

Heres some pics for your viewing pleasure, im waiting on a new coil pack, it seems the ignition system is a little weak, so im buying OEM Honda, when i get them ill send through some videos! It does great burnouts! LOL

Sounds pretty cool, I'm assuming mini choppers are the same as pocket bikes?
