    Recent P Plate laws?

oks this is just my opinion but i think their being quite unfair on red p platers and what not.. actually just p platers in general.. no wait people who have nicer cars than them.. oks getting bit off topic.. but what u guys rekon about the new curfew laws, having to hold your plates on the exterior of ur car and the tougher penalties? (hope i havent missed one)

its been proven already that the curfew law sucks red p platers can only drive one person between the hours of 11pm - 5am.. most of them are speeding to get home.. if not their ditching their p plates to escape it? kinda stupid yeah.. i get the whole point of the law.. i just dont think its working ><

holding ur p plates on the exterior sucks badly.. first it kinda screws up the finish on our car.. then u get those that pinch p plates from parking lots and what not.. honestly i see p plates in the rear window quite fine! what a way to stuff that up!

tougher penalties just suck in general.. im still new to the road but ive already seen repeat offenders on my daily route to work and tafe.. same cars doing the same thing.. and yet p platers still getting blamed for the whole thing.. unfair..

i understand most of the members here are prolli fully licensed and such and are just reading this thinking o another p plater gotta watch out for him.. but yeah was jsut wondering what you guys had to go through when u guys got ur licence? =]

ps. its 4.42am lmao so im a bit out of it!
Have you had your daily dose of VTEC?

I don't see a problem with placing P plates on the exterior.

When I was on my Ps, I placed mine on the exterior and not once were they stolen nor did they ever fall off. Either you guys don't mount them securely or you just don't care. Also the RTA also give you a sufficient amount of P plates when you obtain your license so I don't see it being a problem.

Also how does it "screw up the finish on your car" ?

I don't see a problem with any of the new laws applied in NSW. I also think that the power to weight ratio which is in force down in VIC should also be applied in NSW. This would limit the amount of K20/B18 civics running around too hahaha

I think the government is largely misleading and ineffective in all the road safety policies it has run over the past 10 years.

I don't see how having P plates on the outside of your car is a big deal though.

Considering P-platers cause or are part of a large % of accidents when they are a minor group of motorists on the road I think the crackdown on p-platers who have watched too much initial D and fast & furious is good.

Securing P plates to the exterior of your car is such a simple matter. Oh no it makes your car look bad... stuffs up the flow of your fully sick bodykit and blocks out the neon lights...

If you can't hack it then don't drive, simple as that.
Driving is a privilege not a right.

If I'm ranting that is because I'm sick of hearing P platers whinge about this and that being unfair... maybe when you guys stop hooning around thinking you're Takumi/Brian Walker you won't be targeted and have affordable insurance premiums.

I've notice, when I'm driving at night time... I don't see any Red P Platers anymore... I only see Green P Platers.

Is it because, you guys... take of the Red P's because of the curfew?

I don't think it's that bad. P1 drivers under the age of 25 are not to drive more than 1 other passenger under the age of 21 between 11pm and 5am. I'm totally behind this after having mobs of idiots in theirs cars driving up and down the main road thats behind my house last night with their horns blazing for a good 15 minutes.

scared of your p plates getting stolen? put them in the car after you park. doesn't take long and it's not that difficult.
you can buy brackets to slot your p plates into so that you're not wedging it between the numberplate and bodywork so it won't do any cosmetic damage to the car.

some of the laws are tough, and some seem a bit stupid and unjustified but I guess there has to be some compromise from drivers. Maybe if you follow the road rules and those that are set out explicitly for provisional drivers, you might get to keep your life.
