most likely some other programe you have installed have taken away quicktimes original file associations so basically quicktime is asking you to give it powers again to play those kinda files.

Think of it as each programe is made to take care of a certin amount of software, say windows media player plays wmv files. When you install another programe it will often "with your permission" start to play those wmv files. Windows media player wont be happy and will ask for your love again when you start it up next time LOL.......
