I used it for a few good hours this morning...

If you're just an average power user then I'd just stick with Firefox...Safari still has bugs that it needs to iron out.

Firefox 2 versus Safari: what is the superior web browser?

All tests will be done on a fresh copy of Safari and Firefox. Most of these tests will be done using the OCAU homepage, Google and http://www.lissaexplains.com/javascript3.shtml for javascript. Things I am looking at include page rendering, popup blocking and speed. Note that neither Safari nor Firefox work with javascript straight out of the box.

The computer is a 2.8ghz pentium 4, with 256mb of DDR ram.

        1) Speed (no cache)
        OCAU homepage
        Safari: 21.11s
        Firefox: 23.34s

        Google
        Safari: 2.94s
        Firefox: 2.12s

        Javascript
        Safari: 4.20s
        Firefox: 3.22s

Safari appears to work faster when loading image heavy pages, but cannot keep up with Firefox for javascript.

        2) Speed (cache)
        OCAU homepage
        Safari: 7.31s
        Firefox: 7.54s

        Google
        Safari: 1.63s
        Firefox: 1.26s

        Javascript
        Safari: 4.32s
        Firefox: instant

The cache evened up the browsers, but Safari was still very slow when loading javascript.

        3) Features
Firefox comes out well above Safari when it comes to features. Apple have neglected to include a spell checker, and Safari has no capability to support addons. However, Safari does have resizeable text boxes and can intergrate with Address Book, but that really doesn't help Windows users who cannot run AB.
The lack of features is almost a good enough reason to stck with firefox.

        4) Page rendering
Safari appears to have a small problem when rendering bold text, squashing the letters together and making it harder to read. Otherwise, page rendering is virtually the same in both browsers, except for the trademark Aqua stylings of the scroll bars and other element in Safari.

        5) Popup Blocking
        Popups provided by http://www.popuptest.com/
Safari: Fails to block: Drop down popup, Sticky popup (although it is in the left corner)
        Incorrectly block: none
Firefox: Fails to block: Drop down popup, Sticky popup (although it is in the left corner)
        Incorrectly block: none
NOTE: Safari does not notify you when it blocks a popup

        6) Acid2
The acid2 test is the most demanding test on the entire web. Only those browsers fully compliant with w3 standard can correctly render the page.
        Firefox:

        Firefox fails the acid2 test

        Safari:

Suprisingly, Safari passes the test with flying colours. The only other mainstream browser to do this is Opera.

        Final Remarks
Apple have done a reasonable job with producing a web browser for the windows platform. However, despite Safari's performance with Acid2, I would recommend people stick with firefox for the time being

The BBBB's come up in the address bar

Safari is rumoured to support aRGB but I guess 99% of internet users wouldn't know the different between aRGB, sRGB and ProRGB so pretty much useless except for the 1% users.

Safari has a private mode. Install this and enable it for porn at work without any trails

what a fucking load of shit. 40gb peak and the rest off peak...

atm i've got 30gb, but if i use it all up and get capped, between 1am and 8am the cap seems to be lifted. only trouble then is that i'm capped during the day lol

i have managed to do 110gb / month before..

i really hope they dont fix this if that gets introduced lol

                        Schedule your downloads...

I get 20/40 therefore I schedule all my torrents to run during off peak and use all that up before moving into my quota during peak time...

Though my off peak time sucks for the weekend if I'm capped as it is from 2am to 12pm...
