new member - forum query

Hi guys,
Just signed up for the forum and read the FAQ's. I can see why admin don't want people signing up to the forum just to sell, but why prevent us from seeing it?

What if we want to buy something, or post a wanted to buy?
Perhaps making the for sale section visable, but not allowing new users to start a thread is more logical?

Or is it because admin don't want new users to buy/look for items here without firstly contributing?

If I have missed something here, please let me know.

I am guessing this is the reason. This forum is meant to be about sharing knowledge and enthusiasm for Type R cars not to sell random crap that you don't need.

I think it is there to give the members who contribute to the forum a head start and some sense of exclusiveness to the trading section. It is also there to suss out new members, we dont want idiots on the forum.

You will get your time, most car forums have similar rules.

Just thought it would be better if you could prevent newbies from starting parts for sale threads, whilst still letting them be able to view them.

Anyhow, hopefully I learn something from this site and can give some knowledge in return.

A intro of yourself will be a good start, and also if you have any questions you can ask in the same time. I am sure there will be plenty of reply and help from us. If you drive a type R or even a non Type R, post some pics.....we love it......

But if I am coming here to see what is for sale, it's not as if I am coming here, signing up to sell and making profit from the site. It's not really contributing, but it's not really taking anything from the forum either.

Just my 2c, but we'll leave that for another day!
