Lol... I only learnt how to drive manual in april/may leave me alone.

I'm going to stay on street tyres until i can manage at 1:17 > thats my goal. Until then I'm not going to spending more money on mods.

    Great learning experience today!

Wow.. my interwebs just died on me...

Anyway.. a few things that were very different this trackday..

            1. Way too many people on the track at one time so traffic was a big issue
            2. 5 groups so everyone hardly got any track time
            3. Extremely windy (I'm blaming this for my crappy laptime)

Yeah, as I said.. I managed to be 0.3 seconds slower with semi slicks... So therefore, my theory goes "semi-slicks = slow"

haha.. nah.. I think I wasn't concentrating as there were way too many cars that obstructed everything,...

              Photo time

I missed one or two groups I'm afraid. The wind made it really hard to get clean shots The rest of my photos are available here

Seemed to be a problem in the morning in all groups, and in the afternoon in some of the groups. But OTOH I thought some of the afternoon sessions were great.

Extremely windy (I'm blaming this for my crappy laptime)
F'n ay, I've never seen it that windy.. it just wouldn't let up! (and I think we all got a bit dehydrated. And sunburnt, since we couldn't wear hats without them flying off..)

Yeah, as I said.. I managed to be 0.3 seconds slower with semi slicks... So therefore, my theory goes "semi-slicks = slow"
Thats a funny thing... my best lap time at wakey (1:15.2) was recorded on both 16x7" street tyres as well as 15x6" slicks... I had initially expected better from the slicks!

But honestly I prefer the slicks because you can do lap after lap without overheating them, and surely consistent performance from your car is one key to improving your driving?

haha.. nah.. I think I wasn't concentrating as there were way too many cars that obstructed everything,...
Its true to say that some days are definitely faster/slower than others, regardess of traffic. I noticed the wind brought alot of fine dust onto the track whenever anyone went off.

Overcrowding doesn't help though there are some strategies to try and deal with it. Traditionally public hols/weekends are always going to be crowded, the regular weekday trackdays were the best ...

Okay after today I've decided to buy some pedal covers to help with my heel toe. I have trouble reaching the throttle so I think I should just put a cover over my throttle to help pivoting my foot over to reach the throttle. Then when i get better I'd remove the cover. Anyone know any good pedal covers?

Nice day guys..Nice meeting you too Aaron, should've introduced myself to more of you. next time perhaps.

It was an interesting day for me as well testing new lines and settings. some laps were good, some not so. had a big off coming out of turn 1 straight into the gravel pit which then started all my troubles.

On the last timing session, I had to pull out after 1 odd lap due to a shredded alternator belt which I think was cuased by a caught stone. It was a waste as I was starting to feel good and trying attack my PB. Also, had a snapped engine damper (!!) - Thats how much the engine was moving!!

                    Oh well..another day perhaps.

Sorry Wu, but what did you think that Heel/Toe will do for your driving?

I guess you can go into the corner quicker. While under hard braking you can downshift smoothly, while keeping your revs up, and being in the required gear to have maximum speed/momentum to go out of the corner.

I personally dont like that jerky feeling downshifting without rev-matching. Also the chance of your wheels locking up!

Atm, I'm either easing off the throttle before the corner and rev-matching then braking or I'll brake hard and downgear, rev-matching, down to the required gear. Which is pretty hard since I have so little room to do all that while the car is still going.

Well, the only reason to heel/toe is to allow you to match the revs on downshifts (For smoother downshifts) where you still have to continue braking. So either way, your revs are going to drop anyway, but being in the right gear keeps the ability to be on the drive when you've completed braking.

You can remove the rubber from your padels and mount aftermarket pedals. I find the drill and bolt in types the best. Just set them up to your liking and leave them there.

Heal toe not really needed...Just learn the lines. Nice clean lap will net a faster time then pushing it too hard...
