A week prior to the Japanese Car Battle @ Eastern Creek, organisers decided to open it up to Honda’s. Acknowledge as the underdog at this event being up against EVO’s, STi’s, Rotory’s and SR20’s, Team BYP rose to the challenge and entered both the Honda Integra DC2R and Honda Civic EG.

Damo's EG K24 - Damien decided to give me a drive in the car at this event due to his work commitment. Basing off BYP’s old K24 time, the team expected the car to lap around the 1:45 – 1:46’s
First 2 session was damp/wet, found it really hard to get any temperature into the tyres. It did caught me out twice @ T9 (hairpin). Once the tracked dried up/track temps slowly climbing grip slowly came to life.

After session 3 manage 1.44.8, was happy with the result. I knew there's at least another sec from that time. Next session, cracked into the 1.43 and landed 1.43.7 with a best optimal 1.43.1 from XT racing GPS timer. With tyre grip "falling off the Cliff" i knew i had one chance to give it a real crack into the 1.42's but this never eventuated.
From data collected car went into T1 @ 208km lowest speed thru T1 APEX 188km/hr. From data the car/aero itself is working quite well.
Car is still equip with stock LSD, stock gearing, stock clutch and 145kw atw. It gave the big dogs are run for the money. Was fun racing GTR's/RX-7 with double to tripple EG power and yet be faster HONDA POWER!~!!

Brandon's DC2R K24 Supercharge - Back from 1st place @ Honda Nationals with a 1.03.2 @ Wakefield Park. Only changes for the car was its now equipped with J's Racing 6 pot brakes 330mm rotors off DC5R setup.

Benny and Brandon doubled entered the car. Benny wanted to give top placings a real good go and thought he could place the BYP DC2R in the top 3. It was Brandon's first time driving @ Eastern Creek.
It wasn't a good day for the BYP DC2R supercharge with track temps slowly climbing, cooling was a real major issue for the car. Humidity was high and track temps over 30 degrees, this was its real test on how well the cooling system was working supercharged. Benny drove the first few session in wet/damp track conditions to test out the new brakes to give the all clear before Brandon jumps in and goes out for his flyer's.

Benny manage 1.40.2 with ease, he notice Engine coolants temperature hoovering over 100 degrees after 3 laps which wasn't a real good sign for the rest of the day. After returning back into pits he notice the car was down on power from Honda national, this wasn't a good sign. However the car/handling/aero was working quite well and confident of a top 3 placing, yet this didn't eventuate.

After a slight "alteration" with a competitor the car was assign to the scrutineer's bay to be checked over again which it had pass earlier in the morning. It was lets say "Banned" from the event till "issues" been fixed. Issues was fixed and back onto the track battle. With temperature at its peak for the day, Brandon had his first full session and did a great job piloting it around Eastern Creek by himself with coaching from outside the car. He manage 1.48.0 with 3 laps. With Engine coolant temps recorded 120 degree's something doesn't seem right

With Brandon behind the wheel again in the next session, the team heard a loud knocking sound from the roof top as the car accelerates out from turn 9. As Brandon try to give it a little bit of throttle to get it back to pits, the cylinder 1 and 2 failed. Unfortunately, the end has ended early for the car with BYP’s first engine failure
Disappointed with the outcome, the team suspected a few variables had led to its failure. With high engine temperature during the day, high revving and intense usage over the last year being in both the BYP Civic and now the Integra, it has all contributed to its failure. Pushing close to 300kw, revving to 8300 rpm and competing in over 10 events, the engine has been a part of a record winning combination @ both Eastern Creek and Wakefield Park. The engine has certainly serve its purpose to say the least.

Regardless of the engine failure, BYP DC2R k24 supercharge was placed 4th and BYP EG k24 N/A 6th overall out of 76 entrants. With both the DC2R and EG from Team BYP, we have definitely change the perception of Honda’s amongst other car owners. Being laugh at in the early part of the day, we have certainly shown them what Honda’s are capable off. By the end of the day, they have respected all Honda entrants!

Great read and some very decent times. Well done!

Can't wait to see what will happen with the DC2R now!

                            D series time! LOL

Was a slow day (lap times) with cars like nick kalis over 4 sec away from what he did at superlap, shows what a beast damiens EG is.

IMO it was a poorly run event, very slow group turn over rate and my car getting "banned until further notice" for most of the day was a joke. Only 3 laps would of liked to see what I could of got with some more lap time. Oh well I guess that's racing!

                              Whats this banning about?

Nice overall result, 4th place out of 76 cars is very impressive!

                              Is the head still ok?
