Here are my thoughts of the BYP exhaust so far; I thought I’d share my experiences with the community rather so here goes nothing.
My current goal is not for power but when I do want to achieve this, I will definitely be upgrading the headers and cat. I pretty much just wanted an exhaust so that’s a good enough reason right?! I initially bought a Toda Straight Tail Catback from TODA AU back in Jan 12’ but unluckily, things didn’t turn out so well for me including many others (happy to share this story too if people want to hear it…). Anyways, I got in contact with Benny ~April and I ended up purchasing the BYP exhaust.
Current Setup:
2005 DC5 Type S
Stock Headers
Stock Cat
BYP Exhaust
Fitment:
For reference, my car has a 1 finger gap in the back and 2 finger gap in the front with OEM 17" wheels.
The exhaust sits pretty low to the ground; especially the part that connects the resonator pipe and pipe that connects the resonator to the Cat. The lowest part of my cars chassis is about 12cm off the ground. I estimate the exhausts pipe where it connects is about 7cm or less from the ground at the moment. That's an easy fix for me though; i can just raise the car if i want/need more clearance.
With my Progress 22mm rear sway bar, there is about 1-2mm (if that) space between the muffler and sway bar. I do hear rattles sometimes which i believe is the muffler hitting the sway bar only on idle so far but nothing major. Again, it I raise my car, I can get more clearance between the 2,
Sound:
The sound and tone of the exhaust is excellent. The YouTube video gives a good indication of the exhaust tone but in real life, it sounds so much better.
On throttle off, there is a popping/crackling sound (which i reckon sounds amazing!). I did some reading and my understanding is that this is caused by oxygen gases being burnt while still in the exhaust system. I’ve checked with Benny and this is all good and normal.
dB Readings:
I managed to get some dB readings using an iPhone/iPad app (dB Meter Pro) before and after the exhaust was put on. Surely the app isn't as accurate as a proper testing microphone but I thought I’d give at least some sort of indication of the sound level compared to the stock exhaust.
Stock Exhaust:
Cold Start Idle- 80db
Idle- 67db
Stationary (5250rpm) - 90db
BYP Exhaust:
Cold Start Idle- 83db
Idle- 73db
Stationary (5250rpm) - 94db
Stationary Rev was done at ~5% less than the limiter on the DC5S.
On a cold start in the morning I have to say it is loud. On once warmed up, the idle sound is nice, deep and quiet. When accelerating it does get loud at times but nothing that i can't cope with inside the cabin. I am unsure as to how loud it is on the outside since i haven't heard my car while someone else is driving.
Summary:
Overall, I’m very happy with the exhaust. In my opinion it sounds great especially with that popping/crackling on throttle off. The service and communication that BYP provides is excellent and I highly recommend them. There is no doubt that I’ll continue to buy from BYP in the future.

Titanium exhausts have a very different sound to SS. Once u get one u never wanna go back! I ain't bought one yet but Benny has been great help with sorting out answers to my questions for me so far :$Street Circuit Lifestyle - Official distributor for PasswordJDM sales@streetcircuitlifestyle.com.au

I'm sure i would have been happy with the Toda if i received it on time but with the timing of the release for this exhaust, it was just meant to be haha.

But I don't feel that the dB reading is entirely accurate. The BYP exhaust is significantly louder than a stock exhaust. Surely it has to be more than 4dB louder than stock?
Thanks again for your feedback GGWPTY on the BYP exhaust. It definitely helped me make my decision!
