    Semi Slicks = Harder steering?

    The steering wheel is really stiff.. car came with semi slicks so not sure if this is the reason for the stiffness..

    any ideas?

    Tyre pressures mate. Most people run semi slicks at lower temps to allow for expansion under extreme heat. The problem is, on the road the tyres don't get hot enough.

    What tyres are they anyway?

    What car is it and what mods?

            Not always. The tyres would need to be up to operating temperature to make the friction increase. This could be poorly setup suspension or just deflated tyres.

            The owner hasn't driven the car without them so I'm not sure how he's gauging this.

            Are they RT-615s? I think you need to check your tyre pressures first. For street use make sure they sit at around 38-40psi.

                I get the feeling that's why you think the steering is heavy. Camry's have the responsiveness of a wet sponge.

                  DC2/DC5 steering is much heavier than normal passenger cars - might just be normal? You get quite a bit of torque steer normally too.

                    You do get torque steer;

                    but nothing compared to what I used to get in the Cooper S.

                    I can say that the Type R (DC2 is all I have driven) is one of the best handling front wheel drive cars.

                    The megane sport cup with the LSD would be right up there too.

                    Compared with the cooper S - the DC2R has less torque steer; but more power.

                    Go figure..... -----> LSD :-P

                      Front Wheel LSD does work your arms. Take it for a hard run in the hills, build your arms up. I still like to take a break after 30mins of hard twisties.

                              Yes, if you were to change to street tyres, the steering will get MUCH lighter.

                              More grip = heaverier steering. Also semi's are heavier than street tires - aren't they?

                              Anyways... I noticed this once I put my Kumho V700's on instead of Toyo T1R's.

                              PS: We figured you drove a DC2R, from the B18C7 :P
