Baffled Oil Sump Nessessary for Track?

    Hey guys,

I know that there are numerous threads and arguements about the importance of a baffled sump (eg. Mugen Oil Pan) especially in a B-series engine, but from a rather credible source of mine, he has let me know that it isn't required..

The reason I ask is that I will going to Wakefield next week and was wondering if i should go and ruin my street tyres, or take the set of semi's I have at home...

    So, my question is this...

HAS ANYONE RUN SEMI-SLICKS AT WAKEFIELD WITH A STOCK OIL SUMP?

too easy to spun bottom end bearings using semi slicks with stock oil sump.
Someone on this forum should be able to share their experience

Purchase baffled sump plates from jdmyard, a much cheaper option than Mugen Oil sump.

hmmmm ........ i don't think type R needs baffle sump. They already got side plates laready in them. If you know your motor is in a healthy condition then it won't be needed. Just remember to check oil levels.

yeah no one needs a baffled sump.

No one needs to go to the track either.

I guess an $8000 motor doesn't really need any extra insurance.

If you end up enjoying tracking then maybe put a baffle and oil cooler on your to-do list.

um, you only asked if we had run semsi on stock sump...

the other thing you should have asked was DID YOU BLOW YOUR ENGINE?

                    YES I DID.

it was $550 for tilt tray back to sydney...

fatboyz is right though - oil level and QUALITY is the key...

i was running 3000km old castrol 5W-30 near the top dot but it got HOT...

i recommend at least 10w-40 but i run 10-60w as i push my car really hard...

does sump have 2 be removed for oil cooler.. coz if so, might wait and do them 2gether....

fark im such a noob rofl...

all i can say is if u gona track regularly and gona be using semi's, def get a baffled sump! why risk it!

                        why risk it?

Lol, coz I was impatient and want to use the semi's next week rather than my street tyres.. oh well.. looks like ill be tearing up my street tyres..

i guess ill invest in a sump plate or even a mugen oil sump and put it in myself..

The sump doesn't HAVE to be removed for an oil cooler, but you might end up doing it anyway as you have to remove the sump to raise your oil pressure...
