    DIY ITB's DC2R + CBR1000RR

I initially got the idea of home made itbs from this website
    DIY ITBs

and I had been throwing up the idea of itbs for a long time ..
as spending over 1k on a mugen intake .. really didnt do it for me ..

Now a major disclaimer.. don't take any of the stuff im saying here as gospel,
cos i am a DIY retard, and the major point of the project was ..
budget.. as well as the sound of these things at VTEC =p ..

Anyone to start first issue of the day .. was what ITBs to use?
after a lot of research i came up with the following..
highlighted are the pro's and cons of what i found..

Now i ended up choosing the CBR1000RR

    main reasons for this ..

    - Honda Technology (can't go wrong with the Honda is god mentality)
    - nice spacing already ..
    - Honda TPS that is similar to the B series tps
    - 44mm Butterfly..

Which brings me to my next point ..
    Butterfly size..
there were larger alternatives .. as u can see the Hayabusa ITBs came in at largest with 46mm butterfly size..
but once again .. with a bit of research and expanding on information i got from www.jenvey.co.uk ..
i came up with the following data..

Now i am only aiming for 140kw atw.. (stock bottom end..)
so i thought it would be sufficient with a 44mm butterfly..

The main ingredients that i used in this concoction were

      - JDM itr intake manifold
      - CBR1000RR throttle bodies
      - Unifilter Box Filter
      - www.velocityofsound.com velocity stacks/trumpets..

I'll start off with the JDM ITR intake manifold..

I got this for a STEAL .. as some guy had plumbed some extra injectors into the back of a jdm itr manifold..
I had actually firstly intended the itbs to look sometihng like this

but i wanted to retain as much of the manifold as i could
ie injector bungs .. and even the injector mounting points..
so what we ended up with ..
was a chopped intake manifold ..
that had to be welded and a plate fitted and rebored and honed ..
and it ended up looking like this..

which i must say i was very happy with ..

The filter that i picked up was not a bad price either.
$150 for a pre-oiled and fully caged and boxed filter..

i opted totally against the regualar use of itb socks.. as they really disturb the flow of the velocity stacks..

and i finally found someone in australia that does them for race bikes in the states..

and the current state of them ..
This is by no means finished.. im still working on finishing up the port matching of the black bits to the IM flange
and also port matching the IM itself..
as well as well as roughing up the insides to a nice even grit ..
as well as the whole vacuum log business..
and ill be sure to put up a vid once this is all done ..
                Hope you enjoyed =)

and a mandatory show off pic of the car its going into =p
