    E85 (thoughts and suggestions)

    Hi there.

Just wondering if I could gather some more information about E85 fuel.

I realise there has been a thread that previously discussed this, but as that thread is now 2 years old, I thought I would try and get some updated info.

My car will be track only, running a s/c. Have a 255 Walbro intank, and will have the capacity to run up to -10AN fuel lines. I currently have RC 440cc's... I think these would be have been ok for the s/c setup on high octane stuff, but maybe not so on E85? So I have been tossing up the idea of upgrading these...A lot of people have been raving about Injector Dynamics. They offer a 725 and 1000. A bit of a side question...but would 1000's be overkill? ie, running them at a low rate etc? There are plans for more power in the future...

    Anyway...back to the topic.

What is required to be upgraded in order to run this fuel?

As mentioned, i'll be running the new fuel pump, injectors are 50/50, and will be running new braided lines (most likely -6AN). Will run an inline filter and will need a fuel rail that will accommodate the new lines. Would an aftermarket FPR help my situation?

    Am I missing anything?

    Thanks for the help

    Michael,

The stock fuel lines are good enough for 250kw's at the wheels. I would go the ID 1000cc's. Get these from the US direct, they are cheap

I would upgrade the fuel rail and run an aftermarket FPR.

When you do decide to get more power, then you'll need another fuel pump and maybe upgrade the lines

How much power do you want or are you aiming to make? You power goals will determin your injector size, fuel pump needs, fuel lines and regulator pressure.

e-85 will need 30% to 45%(depends who you talk to) more fuel to reach stoich. rule of thumb is bigger is better in injectors, fuel pump and regulator pressures, but fuel lines to big lower fuel pressure!

Id 1000's are great. In my opinion there is no question about size for injector. the 440's are much to small and 750's will work dependent on boost levels. 1000's will work and gives room to grow. idle is not compromised will 1000's.

255 fuel pump is a great start for up to 300-350 hp on dc5 then bosch 044 inline. for track 225 to swirl pot and 044 to fuel rail.

You will need boost referancing fuel regulator,as boost increases so dose fuel pressure. -6an lines up and back, big hp -8an up -6an return. fuel rail recommended also.

Iam waiting for more servos to stock e-85 and i will be going for it!
      current set up 255,stock line(no return),fuel rail, 1000's 10psi turbo
      planed e85 set up 255,044,-6an,fuel rail,1000's,pressure reg,-6an 15-18psi

        Thanks for the replies guys.

A little more info to get my facts straight perhaps. This is all on an EG with b18cr btw.

I am getting a Fluid Control Solutions fuel cell http://fcsfab.com/products.html shipped over at the moment. Probably a delay due to christmas, but should be arriving any time now. This is sumped and baffled...so hopefully the 255 will be enough to keep me going for the time being...if not, an inline bosch would probably not be too much of a hassle to plumb in.

You'll notice it has an -10an feed...so just going to run a reducer to -6an and go from there.

The s/c is the jackson racing m62..Im not 100% on power figures, as all I have to compare to is the states, but a gsr motor, running e85, 8psi, 550cc injectors and LHT cooler puts down 309hp.

That is all I have to compare to. Don't know how much to read into it...

I would have the exact same setup as the above...

In the future future, once the s/c is tamed, and funds permit...the motor will be twincharged...so yes, i suppose the questions regarding the 1000's was a bit silly. But that's another story.
