    100,000 Service, HELP!!

    Hello everybody~
My DC5R is hitting 100,000Ks, i called Honda and got a quote of 515 bucks for service, which doesn't include timing belt change.

However ppl around me are saying that i do need my timing belt changed, and i don't need to go back to Honda for services if more that 100,000Ks and i can still get cheaper and decent jobs done.

Can anybody here recommend me some reliable places (better be speciallized in ITRs) other than Honda where u had your services done?
Is it true that I do need to have my timing belt replaced?

Thanks in advance to anybody answering.

DC5 have timing CHAINs; some people replace it, some dont.

DC5s don't have a timing belt, they have a timing chain which should last the life of the car. The first major service for a DC5 is at 80,000km and it includes things like a coolant change, gearbox oil change and valve clearance adjustment, on top of the usual stuff. 500 dollars seems a bit steep for a 100,000km service which is just a normal oil change.

Where are you located? That will make people better able to recommend places for you to go.

You can get your chain re-timmed if you wish... But i've been told it shouldn't need to be replaced.

Just wanted to let everyone know that you dont need to find someone that "Specialises" in Hondas to get good work done, the ITR is a fairly basic car in terms of engineering and any budding mechanic can work on the car with relative ease.
