    m-bit 4-2-1s/mugen n1 ecu

just a bit of an update as to my latest engine tuning foray..
heres a piccie of my engine bay now:

a few weeks ago my jdm4-1's were replaced by a maximworks 4-2-1 exh mani. the mbit headers are of an extremely good quality finish with beautiful welding and smooth surfaces, and very light (under 5kg on the bathroom scales vs over 15kg for the stock audm cast 2-piece). the exh mani is mated to a jdm spec cat and fujitsubo powergetter exhaust. with the new headers i felt a slight increase in torque and power throughout the rev range. not a huge difference, but noticeable.
i also managed to track down a mugen N1 ecu (not easy to find! thanks stephen!) with this installed, the rev limit is raised to 9100rpm and vtec cam change lowered to 4600rpm from 5400rpm. the mugen ecu seems to make the most of the exhaust upgrades and offers a noticeable increase in torque in the low and mid range, and definitely more top end power! it was a more noticeable difference than when swapping the headers, however i suspect the ecu and headers are working in combination to provide the current effect.
while changing the headers i also installed a mugen baffled sump which was a calming thing to have on my last track day. a good safety measure.
also u can probably notice the koyo radiator which replaced the stock one when the plastic top tank began forming crack lines.

during the last track day the water temp never exceeded 80degC, and the oil temp took more laps than previously before it reached 130degC. (i still may decide to get an oil cooler to keep the oil temp down further). the ecu and header combo gave me more top end power then my last setup, but perhaps more signifficantly i felt more torque on corner exit and the car wasnt 'dropping out of vtec' like before.

overall im very happy with these light mods and would highly recommend them

very clean engine bay hey curious how much clearance do u have with the headers and radiator?

not much clearance. it fitted without having to cut any of the radiator fan shrouds or any other modifications, but there is only maybe 1.5cm? so when stationary the headers will be heating the radiator from behind! shouldnt be a problem when there is significant airflow though, just when stationary or near-stationary eg heavy traffic.
