    exhaust advice needed

    Hi all

    I am currently leasing a 2005 Type-S, and after the lease I plan to buy it.

    I am planning for two mods, an intake and an exhaust. If a Comptech Icebox is available here in OZ, I would lean towards it. However the exhaust has me stumped. We probably don't have access to all of the brands mentioned on ClubRSX (ie US) so what options do I have? The exhaust needs to satisfy these 4 criteria:

    1. Overall deep-ish sound;
    2. Not raspy!! I can't stand raspy exhausts;
    3. None or minimal drone (particularly on long trips);
    4. Street legal in terms of noise levels.

    ...or am I expecting too much!?

              Hi all, Well POWER wasn't on your wish list.
              I think you need only change the Axle-back part of your system, not the whole lot. This will change the sound, while still keeping it legal. Noise & pollution & being much cheaper. Agree with the Mugen Loopback. Expensive though, Xforce do one much cheaper, similar sound, but quality...blar, power Blar,blar.

              Later.

                what about toda cat back, i have one and my list of requirements was close to yours. the toda sounds great when fanging but hardly louder than stock when cruising even at 120+km in 6th

                  why not be different and go for balance instead of power?
                  sussy, sway, strut, engine mounts/inserts, etc?

                  whats ur aim of having the car, and what do u want to achieve?

                  oh yeh, hows the toda exhaust matt? haven't heard it yet, but should sound pretty nice! congrats on the exhaust dude!

                    Have to agree with matt, i bought the toda because i wanted a decent exhaust that was quiet and it met the requirements well. Still produces good power too with a tune and headers

                      I think this link would be helpful on deciding what exhaust you should get. It's a video clip of many exhausts for dc5. Goodluck on your research and choice of exhaust

                        I have heard that the standard dc5r exhaust is somewhere around 89 dB I think your last requirement is very limiting. Mugen twin loop is probably one of the quietest. Tinkerbell also has some form of HKS exhaust which is very quiet.

                        Though I must say, expecting legal noise levels from a canon exhaust on an NA car is probably asking for a bit much.

                          HKS SuperDragger

                          it is a multi-chamber design - not 'straight through' like a cannon...

                          this is the key to muffling noise... plus a big assed 18in resonator... (part of the HKS system)

                          BTW - i liek Black Spirits sentiments... but depends on intended use/purpose of the DC5 i guess?
