Carbon Fibre Whale Dik intake repair

Hey All,

I have a carbon fiber whale intake on my DC2R, and ever since I got the car at Christmas, there has been a whistle under accelleration.

When I removed the intake the other day to replace my rear engine mount, I had a closer look at the intake, and there is a small crack, and no there is a hole that allows air to bypass the whole intake and entre the trottlebody mouth..

I was going to fill it up with some resin like Araldite, but seeing as the whole thing is carbon fiber, should I be using carbon fiber resin to fix it? it is in a spot where it won't be visual anyway.

The rubber on the air breather intake from the valve cover is stuffed too, so I also need to know where to pick up a replacement.

Araldite is unlikely to be compatible with the resin that is used in the intake. How large is the crack? My advice would be to use a fiberglass repair kit similar to what one might use on a bumper, because there is a decent chance that the resin will be similar to what your intake is made from and if you prepare the surface well you should be able get a small FRP patch to adhere to the intake.

No, I want to do this so it looks good, racetape would be good to test the seal, but looks like crap

I think I actually have some fibreglass repair kit at home, so might do a test tonight, or bring it all to work and do it first thing in the morning, then it can set all day before i drive home.
