yeah, my back up oil if i cant get redline from the US,in time is the EDGE 10W60... you can feel it holds it back a bit, but you know it will hold up to racing.

Found some comparative data on oil viscosity at different temperatures.

      KV @ 40C KV @ 100C HTHS @ 150C
      REDLINE
      10W 30 -- 70 10.7 3.8 normal use
      10W 40 -- 98 14.6 4.7 performance use
      15W 50 -- 138 19.6 5.8 high temp race use

      CASTROL
      GTX3 15W 40 -- 116 14.8 3.9
      EDGE 5W 30 -- 71.4 12.0 not on tech sheet!
      EDGE 10W 60 -- 168 24.0 5.3
      EDGE 0W 40 -- 77.5 13.1 3.6

Lot of differences in these figures, with low temp start-up lubrication and high temperature effectiveness being significantly different.
What isn't in there is the stability of additives.

Conclusions to be drawn - all I can take from it is its clearly important to look for an oil that meets your specific needs, and you need oil temperature data to help you get that. That GTX3 isn't that bad on at least these measures. That race orientated oils are significantly better than standard, but not good for normal daily use, which is no surprise.
And that EG30 and tinkerbell have id'd the best!
