    dc2R ecu removal/mugen ecu installation

i have never done this before, but heard it is quite simple? what is involved? do i need to disconnect the battery beforehand? (noob question, but if so, which terminal to disconnect/reconnect first :embarrased: )
is it a matter of undoing the passenger footwell kick panel, unfastening the ecu, and undoing wire attachment? then re-connecting the new ecu?
    pls help!

    remove the negative cable.

remove press pin clips and remove kick panel
unbolt the ECU with 10mm socket
remove plugs (a flathead driver can help here)
    swap ECU
    reverse the removal process

        a safety thing?

szymon theres plastic grommet holding the kick panel ..
are 3 10mm bolts holding the ecu ..from memory and
3 clips u need to remove from the ecu =)
        have fun

            never owned one ..
and never really liked the idea of one-tune-multi-purpose applications..

            i much prefer tunable ecus

            y do u ask ?

hmm.just talked to friend at work who said disconnect +'ve first, then -'ve, and to re-install, connect -'ve first, then +'ve. ie. opposite to what tinks said.. because the -'ve is the grounding so that needs to stay..

                    ???

..however my mechanic agrees with tinks. and a few other websites say the same so i think my friend from work is wrong..can anyone else confirm for me just to make sure i'm right, ie. disconnect -'ve first, then +'ve..

i dont think i've ever disconnected the battery when removing the ecu. I've never had a problem. But if you're too concerned you can always take out the ecu fuse?

i really dont think it matters which one you disconnect
assuming that you are disconnecting just in case you short something out ..

if you have no - .. ur pos wont matter too much..
if you have no + your - wont matter too much either?
(provided you arent, for some UKNOWN reason holding a + or - terminal somewhere else=p)

                          chicken or the egg?
personally .. ive done it a lot of times and haven't removed anything..
                          has been all good ..

i am sure i sent one down once to one of you SA guys, get a copy and read up....

or send me $2 via internet and i will send teh CD to you...

(BTW - i have changed ECU without removing the battery too... but IF you ARE going to remove it do NOT take the LIVE wire off FIRST. always take the GROUND off first.)
