    Sway bar issues

has anyone got a cusco rear away installed on their dc5r? i had it for 10k kms without problem b4. Recently i felt that my car handling wasnt as good and the ride feel particuarly at the rear felt really bumpy. So i looked underneath of my car today and realised the mounting brackets where the suspension cross member holding the sway bar has obvious cracks. Does anyone has similiar issue with it before, any suggestion to get this repair? i m worried if one day my sway fall off while i m driving =(

    You mean the rear subframe?

If so thats serious, need to get it checked asap, not cheap to reweld as well.

Crap i have same sway bar on mine......

"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horse power is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you."

i m not sure what does it call but dont think its the rear subframe. If u look underneath of the rear of ur car then u will see there are two brackets holding the sway bar in the middle. I've already seen obvious dent around the brackets >.< Also there is some white stuff near the brackets there..i m not sure if the honda dealer put some lubricants on near the brackets when i sent my car serviced last month.

btw as a side, its funny that the honda dealer blue painted my grounding cables and also paint on my sway...i will post up a pic soon to show u the location of the cracks i found

Eddie, cusco rear sway works great and it helps to improve the mid-corner acceleration without too much wheels spin at the front.

The component that cracks on the sway is called bushing holder. i better get it replace soon as shown in the pic it looks like its the only place to hold the sway.

so you're saying that metal bracket you circled in yellow cracked?

they are, about $17 each from Honda dealers, i know cuz i just bought a set of front sway bar mounting brackets for my dc5.

also, if there is some white dried up lubracant thingo on them that is normal. The front sway bar mounts i orderd new from honda has them all over it..

Yeah Tofu, its the mounting bracket that cracked. This clarifies the puzzle in my mind for last few days =p. Thanks Tofu

I'm not sure if the oem bracket will fit his aftermarket bushing. The bushing might be too big for the bracket.

good point but i guess there is no subsitute for the bracket to hold on the sway. just dont want to get into trouble with insurance company later for having a non-oem bracket

see if you can get it welded. If its just a crack, they will just fill it.
