Tire rack?

hey, has anyone bought tyres in from the states through tire rack before? my old man is in need of some runflats for his bmw and with the aus$ doing ok i thought it might be a cheaper option. does anyone know how they go with freight costs and customs and stuff?

under 1000 and you dont pay customs.

cost $250 shipping to send 4 x 16in tyres last time i used them...

I have ordered from them before, they were quite good. Keep it under 1000 AUD and as Tinker says shipping is generally around $250.

It is based on the value of the goods you are importing. Shipping isn't taken into consideration.

bloody runflats are expensive, around $1500 aus without shipping for the set of 4, might have to look into import duty costs or maybe buying 2 at a time

Or not buying run flats. They're heavy, rubbish, rough riding and expensive. Incidentally BMW have now dropped the runflat tyres and gone to a goo can solution. The other option is going for a self sealing tyre. Look at a Continental Contiseal tyre. They're expensive, but have much better handling characteristics than runflats.

not buying runflats is sadly not an option, we live in what i believe you city people call 'the sticks' where when we say the roads are shit, they REALY are! while i agree whole heartedly with your views on RF, my old man travels alot and going back to standard tyres would mean him needing to get a spare, which would mean losing boot space, which when travelling he needs. and been advised that a puncture can't be repaired in the Contiseals so i don't think there worth a punt, anyhoo, thanks everyone your input
