and will keep you in a lower class compared to F/I...
how much for a b20vtec engine? would be cheaper than a b18c7?
do you have to build the bottom end considering it will be reving alot higher than what it was intended for?

I mean, my heart agrees with you but my head doesn't... The SC option if well sorted seems like a perfect solution. Other than it would force my car into Road6 category lol where you have a chance compared with Road4 I guess - Rob Nguyen and his CRX are quiiicckk..
Well for one, we are currently running a mild build B20vtec which makes at little over 160kw at the wheels. So far, its been a very reliable package and the price tag isn't so much as well. It revs to 9000rpm all day everyday without any problems. Engine has been to 12 track events this year with over 250 dyno pulls.

Hi Power Racing CRX was a quick car. But i think they ran to reliability issues with their engine combo?

Its hard to say how much to build a b20vtec. Remember the supporting mods external to the engine plays a very important role in regards to power output as well.

And yes, if your using it for trackwork, ill use a set of forged rods

so when you say you're running a mild build, what exactly do you mean? head work? plus the rods? or you change everything crank, pistons ect what head you guys use? b16? decked, polished and ported?
                sorry for all the questions

Benson -- Not sure what happened there, I thought they were moving on from that car.. I mean, he was putting down very quick times when it was a piece of shit in the early days, very impressive.. Mind you, you've done a couple of flyers yourself haven't you lol

Do you use / Can you use a B18C block and bore it to B20 or would I need different block? I might have to do some research --- I guess you can pick up a block fairly cheaply .. 160kw NA is fairly close to where I want to be and the beauty is retaining NA response. even then, if I upgrade the head now I'll be able to use it for the new motor.

So really -- Best idea is to go with the head upgrade now and build a shortblock to drop in it later..

Benson -- Interesting you have close to stock compression, why didn't you shoot for higher compression? If you are getting 160kw or so currently, imagine that engine with 13:1 compresion.. I think you have changed my mind.

I thought he had a stripped crx with cheap suspension and stock b16 in the early days?? I thought the car was then built up to produce the blistering times it achieved in recent times.. I might be wrong?

In either case he is a bloody good driver -- Wasn't taking away from the car, moreso that he had some pace in a non-race developed package.

And not taking away from your times either mate, as I said, looks like you've laid down some crackers.
