    Mugen LSD - DC2

    Hi,

Does anyone know what type of LSD the Mugen is? ie Assuming its a rebranded mechanical type, wondering who makes them. They are 1.5 way and have a 58/20 pressure plate installed. worth getting for $900 or do you think there are better options?

Any personal experience out there with different LSDs?

I've used Cusco (metal clutch) and ATS (carbon clutch) 1.5 way in a DC2R. The carbon LSD had a smoother action and was quieter but was more expensive. Metal LSD still bites and improves traction just as well as carbon. These diffs are mainly suited for circuit work - not drag racing.

Keep in mind if you get a clutch type LSD you will need to perform maintenance on LSD as the clutches wear down. To adjust the LSD you need to remove the gearbox, remove and dismantle the LSD and shim it correctly. You also have to use a gearbox oil specifcally suited to your clutch type LSD. A torsen type LSD, like the stock DC2R or a Quaife, is largely maintenance free.
