Idle problem

Hi guys,

I have a DC2r and I am have a little problem that you guys might be able to help me out with. The car seems to be a little lumpy when idling, and if you listen to the rear exhaust there is a slight popping sound coming from it.

Does anyone know what the prob could be?

id start by checking condition of plugs and cleaning throttle body out with carby cleaner

Does the car have adjustable cam pulleys?

I am pretty sure the car does not have adjustable cam pulleys.

Your problem is that your valve clearances are set to tight,

Im guessing this popping and rough idle (felt through steering wheel) only happens when engine gets warmer?????

Whats happening is your valves are not closing all the way creating what feels like a slight miss fire....

if your valves are not closing properly then over time (Depending how tight they are) can cause a burnt valve which means head off to repair.

The valve will burn because the valve is not seating properly, which means it cannot transfer the heat from the valve to valve seat.

Anyways get them properly adjusted and your problem will go away, have seen this many times....

I have had a mechanic look at it but he did not know what was wrong. Then again he does not know the type r very well.

I will get it check out as soon as I can.
