    clutch pedal pressure dropped by half...

    hey guys,

    i just wanted to check what i should be checking before i take my car down to a clutch specialist.....20mins ago driving from chatswood to nth ryde my clutch pedal lost half its pressure, or resistance and my first thought was great, either clutch or pressure place is about to die on me.

    check the fuild resivior for fluid... if there is none then you have a leak.. and most likely air in the system.

    if it is, find leak (mine came loose at the slave cylinder connection) fix leak then bleed clutch line until feeling / pressure comes back

      Same thing happened to me, you need to bleed your clutch, or it's possible that you have a fault clutch master cylinder.

      If you continue to drive for too long with the car in this state the clutch will start to simply drop straight to the floor and you won't be able to get into gear.

        thanks guys, yeah it was my Clutch Master cylinder that was stuffed, had it replaced on saturday.


        tink, also had them throw on some ferodo brake pads at the same time as i still hadnt worked out when to come up for you to check themout... ;-)

          howdy y'all, been a while since ive been on, even longer since i got to go on a cruise or track day.......at least i still have by little r.....at least for now.....

          looks like ive gone through another clutch kit, having issues upshifting and downshifting when driving, engages ok when standing still.....

          the current Exedy Cerametallic clutch and U/L flywheel were done 4 or 5 years ago by DBA Rotors or similar out at St.Mary's....but they arent around anymore...

          can someone recommend a good shop that wont overquote me and will do a good job on checking out the current one, and recommending a new clutch kit....

          am thinking of calling hanny's and asking who they would recommend i use....

            just called Hanny's they will be doing it for me......he thinks i am up for my 3rd clutch kit....pfft....maybe i also need to learn how to drive better....

            am thinking of going for the Exedy Sports Tuff Heavy Duty...anyone had experience with these.... current one from memory was a stage 2 cerametallic sports.....so i think the sports tuff will be an easier road clutch, but still above oem standards....

              teh one i recommend (and have raced on for the last 3 years) is: Exedy 08800B (Japan made)

              should be around $400

              the sports tuff is an aussie made one...

                I had one of these in my old Paseo, Good clutch, felt nice & strong on the pedle and never slipped, even when i was boosting big.

                Just bought one now for the teg & am fitting it up tommorow so will write up a report or something.

                  Check under your pedels behind the carpet, against the firewall. If it's wet with clutch/brake fluid, then your Clutch master is gone. It's a fairly common DC2 issue, and the clutch master lets go around 100 - 150K km's. The symtoms your car have are similar to mine. I thought my clutch was gone, but it was actually the master.

                    hey Tink, are you able to find out info on a Partno "R5083HDB" ? i am sure its an exedy, but i cant find ay other info, nor does the part number work via google search etc.. the receipt i have here from 5yrs ago doesnt say crap...
                    all it says is:
                    R5083HDB Heavy duty Button Kit
                    HF01 Sports Flywheel

                        Have you checked your Master cylinder yet? Because if it's busted, a new clutch won't fix it.

                          I thought I'd ressurect this thread instead of starting a new one.

                          I have the symptoms of the master cylinder in my DC2R going bye-bye.

                          Does anyone have any pricing or part numbers in regards to getting it fixed?

                          Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

                            i replaced this on my dc5 itr as few months ago. the part was around $195 from honda took about an hour and a half to install. i'm sure the dc2 would be about the same price / time.
