    [syd] dc5r muffler

    hey guys.

at the moment iv got an exhaust system but it is to loud. i was thinking if i change the muffler to the stock dc5r one will it be bad for the car?! i know there will be power loss but minimal or alot?!

    the setup :
    -toda headers with hi-flow cat
-custom 2.5' catback exhaust with cannon muffler

    whats my best option!?

you could put an ex force muffler on and take out the cannon.... the reason its loud is because of that cannon and LTO resonators....

The stock DC5R muffler will be a little restrictive for such a setup in my opinion, and you don't really want to go backwards after you have spent all that money on 2.5" piping and a good exhaust manifold. You might want to go with a nice oval muffler with a larger volume to quieten it down a little, and perhaps add a resonator in the B pipe.

take it back to your exhaust shop and get them to cut a resonator into the b pipe, start off with a small/short one and if its still too loud then go for a bit bigger/longer one, some times it just takes a bit of trial and error with custom catbacks and thats why an off the shelf exhaust can be a cheaper and less hassle free option in the long run, good luck

i resonator or two wont help, the cannon is the problem. change it for a twin loop or RM01A

a resonator will make it sound less tinny and more raspy just put a muffler on it and it will sound nice you can put a twin loop on it but it will be restrictive and i dont think any of them are 2.5" there all 2.25" also if you drop in size to a 2.25" you loss that nice backfire sound when your cars revving down...
