Anyone seen this sort of thing before? (Floor mat mod?)

My drivers side floor mats wear very quickly... maybe due to shoe style or driving style.. dunno.. but i just saw this and thought it might be a good idea... does anyone know anything about this sort of thing? looks like a piece of metal sitting over the mat where you put your feet..

Wipe feet on material before putting on metal... OR... leave special driving shoes in car at all times?

But I'm thinking of doing something simular shortly... took me to bloody long to find black DC5R matts in the first place... i don't want to have to look for a drivers side only in the future.

Just buy some rubber floor mats, nice and easy also quick to clean if it gets dirty.
The most expensive is not always the best, but the best is always expensive.
