    sway bar problems

    hey guys
i got my front and rear whiteline sway bars intsalled today on my dc5r.

i only realised when i got home that the rear of the car has gone up by about 3fingers but the front is still the same. the car is lowered on pedders springs.

also when i turn or hit a big bump the back left rim makes a loud knocking noise.

do u think the installation hasnt been done properly?!

or if anyone knows whats wrong please help!!

    thanks

the bar is supposed to be tightened with the car on the ground, if the bolts are tightened with the car lifted, it will raise it slightly untill it settles...

but the NOISE is a real concern...

    where'd you get it fitted?

not sure if that is what is going on in your case, it is more a general comment about suspension changes...

that is why i would be MOST concerned about the noise, not the height, which *may* be a symptom brought about by whatever is causing the noise?

I would definitely investigate if it was installed properly if I were you, you might want to jack up the car and inspect if the rear sway bar is installed in the right direction (It only goes one way)

I've seen dodgy examples of rear sway bar installations where the bar was installed in the opposite direction and it was hitting the suspension arms, and it made funny noises when turning and it also had the same symptoms as yours with the height.

There is a slim chance it could be fitted upside down. From memory the Whiteline sway bars don't have the additional bends the Swift or Cusco ones do that prevent them from being fitted upside down. It does seem wierd though as you'd think the weight of the car would allow it to rotate slightly but they would be putting alot of sideways stress on the end links. Best to get it looked at straight away.

              What exhaust are you running?

I've seen a lot of cases where the exhaust will tap the rear sway bar when different loads are applied to the rear end.

It's just 2 endlinks and bushes near the rear tie bar. It may be a little tricky to get to without a hoist. Try to park the car on some ramps and do it that way. THat way the suspension is still compressed and under load. Try to fit it on a hoist involves far too much force to get the endlinks on.

can anyone else confirm with whiteline sway bars that the 'whiteline' should be the write way up!?

It's not just the sticker that makes me think that. As I mentioned in other posts, it is possible for the Whiteline one to be mounted upside down. If that occurs the end links are out of position and actually prevent the springs full compressing, hence incorrect ride height. This is extremely bad for your car. You will end up breaking end links. The sticker just reaffirmed suspiscions.
