K20 Valve Cover Removal

Hi Folks:

I planned to send my K20 Valve for powder coating with Type-R red finishing, by the way, remove it has no problem (I guess), but should I leave those spark plug tube gasket on the valve cover or remove them as well (I found they are hard to remove and some ClubRSX member destory the rings on the cover). Also do I really to get the gasket in tube "honda bond" to glue the valve cover to the head?

Finally, is anything I need to attention for this work?

remove those gaskets. Use something pointy or a small flat head screwdriver and carefully pry it out.

By the way, guys! did u use "honda bond" when u put the valve cover back to the head?? someone should know about it.

hondabond is awesome, better than the RTV sealant - as it wont flake off and clog up your oil passages.

it is around $50 for a tube that lasts forever.

use a normal 10mm ring spanner, not a breaker bar, lol!

the manual tells you EXACTLY how tight, but unless you have a torque wrench it is hard to know.

my rule of thumb is that most ring spanners are the right lenght compare to the size of teh nut - to not allow you to put too much torque... a 17mm spanner is longer than an 8mm spanner etcetera...

dont use your body weight at all, just use your arms.

do NOT over tighten.
