Review: Amsoil Transmission Fluid 5W30 Synchromesh

    Product Info:
    PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
AMSOIL Synthetic Synchromesh Transmission Fluid (MTF) is a premium quality synthetic lubricant designed to surpass the most demanding lubrication requirements of manual transmissions and transaxles where non-extreme pressure fluids are used.

MTF protects gears and bearings in extreme temperatures. It outperforms conventional oils and delivers outstanding performance from -40°F to 300°F. It maximizes energy efficiency and resists the effects of heat, oxidation, sludge and varnish deposits.

Unlike its mineral oil counterparts, MTF prevents the thinning effects of mechanical shear for stable viscosity, superior film strength and anti-wear performance. It protects against rust, keeps seals soft for long life, and is compatible with brass synchros for smooth synchromesh shift quality

After having this stuff sitting around for months I decided to give it a try in my DC2R, I drained out the OEM Honda Fluid and poured in 2 liters of this stuff.

First impressions are great, reverse is much easier to get into with the car being hot or cold. With the Honda OEM fluid I would often have to try several time before the car would smoothly shift into referse, the gear shift felt good.

With the Amsoil, I noticed an instant improvement, the shifts are smoother than I have ever felt before. I didn't notice any difference when I changed fluid using OEM Honda before, but with the Amsoil I actually noticed a difference. Reverse is so much easier to get into now.

I haven't tried redline or any of the other brands but I highly reccomend Amsoil.

I got it from lubrication management in Melbourne a while ago, I thinkt he price has gone up a bit to $16 a liter from when I bought it.

Maybe Dave can source it cheaper from the States ?
