    DC2R fluttering sound ?

Hey guys, its been awhile since i posted on here.
I have a really annoying fluttering / ticking sound coming from the passenger side of my DC2R, it sounds like its coming from where the ecu sits but i cant pinpoint it, its flutters quicker on speeding up and flutters slower when slowing down.Honda want to run a diagnostics on it because they cant find the sound either .
Any ideas please let me know, your help would be much appreciated.

have you examined the LHS wheel arch for a bit of debris?

and the tyre itself, and the brake disc, and the brake pads? and the LHS drive shaft?

all of these items could cause a fluttering noise if attached to road debris...

also - does the speed of the flutter get quicker as road speed increases, or is it when revs increase?

      Spot on Dave.

I think the answers to those questions will drastically help pin-point the problem.

I guess if the flutter sound is dependent on Revs it could have something to do with the fan belts?

I found where the noise was coming from guys, there is a hole in the firewall where the air con hose is supposed to feed through( i dont have aircon), the guys from honda gave me a grommet to plug it up and presto, the fluttering noise is gone.
I reckon the noise could be the injectors ticking and the annoying sound was coming through the hole, they are pretty loud whenever i lift the bonnet.
            Thanks for your help guys

              coolio!

I doubt it is your injectors! (unless they are busted)

you may need to get your Valve Clearence checked and adjusted, when was the 100'000km service?

remove rocker cover, and then check and adjust all 16 valve clearances with a "feeler guage" to ensure the distance between the rocker arm and the top of the valve is ~0.007in...

if it is too wide, then it is noisy, if it is too narrow, it will run poorly...

it is very fiddly work, and is made much easier by using the Snap-On tool for it... doesnt take much time though...

places like Hannys who do lots of Honda work would be the best place to get it done... but yes - any mechanic *could* do it...

at your next service, ask them if they think the valves are noisy, and get a clearance job done...

if they DO say it is your injectors making the noise, i would be quite surprised... but i dont know the history of the car, so it could be anything, lol!

Cool Cool, thanks for that, Apparently its better to get it done when the engine is stone cold?

no, it is absolutely essential it is done cold.
