Toda Headers On stock Exhaust (DC2R)

I was wanting to purchase TODA headers and install them onto my stock muffler.

After some research it came to my attention that I needed to get a smaller CAT to accomodate for the new headers.

What would be the best combination?

Does a metal CAT perform better than A JDM CAT? If so, what size?

Apart from this, is there anything I have to replace to hook it up to the stock muffler? Or do I need a B-pipe aswell?

Basically I want this to increase performance whilst maintaining a stock exterior appearance..... for the meantime ;-)

You pretty much answered ur own question. If you want a stock appearance you should go with the JDM Cat, the metal cat is a spun body one.

Id rather get a spun body 200 cell smsp cat than a jdm cat, hey if ur going to do it with a cat why not get the highest flowing cat u can.

The stock catback will be quite restrictive, so you probably woudn't notice a big differant.

Just get the full zorst with it man!

how about u get an oval muffler instd of a cannon
and u'll still get the same type of effect - perhaps
        examples:

^Yeah, or if you want a more quiet exhaust try the Fujitsubo RM01A.

I mean stock appearance from the outside of the car.

Not down underneath - Im not fussed by that.

Basically, I want to improve performance and set it up so later I can Bolt on a high performance muffler when Im ready for serious track work.

Will a high flowing spun body cat bolt up to the exhaust?

            I dont want any welding.

I have used the Toda Header with a stock DC2R exhaust and there are still very noticeable gains. The header is the biggest restriction with the stock DC2R exhaust, not the catback.

i think you're going to need to do a bit of custom work (welding) with the cat if you want to use a Toda header and the stock catback..

just get a full exhaust (RM01A is quiet) instead?

                  hmmm.... I see.

So is the only 'non-welding' option a shorter JDM Cat? As it compensates for the longer header? Regardless of it offering inferior performance to a metal cat?

Ps - will I see any gains on top if I change the B-pipe as well and leave the axle back stock?

How did you set it up Freaky? DId you just use a JDM CAT?

I used a JDM-length cat, put together by Adrian at Toda.

I had a local exhaust shop make up a short "extension" pipe to go on the back of the JDM cat to make it long enough to reach the stock catback. They charged $40 for this. It is flanged so it was completely bolt-in, so no modification of the stock system was required.

I only did it so if I had a problem with a defect etc, I would be able to easily bolt the stock system back on

                            Any noticable increases in sound?

The stock system doesn't like being fed by Toda Power. It starts making strange buzzing noises and stuff. But it's .... interesting.
