How to test LSD

I found this below for how to test your LSD:



It says that the car needs to be in gear when doing this test, what happens if its done in neutral? Should the wheels spin or should the wheels spin in the opposite direction?

i have heard in other threads that you cant test LSD like that. It must be a myth if that document is from acura!

In neutral, only one wheel would spin - the one you rotate

In gear if you rotate one wheel, the opposite side will spin the other way

I usually played with it when my car was up on the hoist at hanny's and most of the time it was in neutral haha

Thats more to test IF you have a LSD .. Hard to tell from that sort of test if the LSD is performing 100% (ie unless it has completely failed)..

the type of LSD that Honda uses is quite hard to break, and when it does break - it breaks 100%...

The opposite for testing with clutch pack LSD's. Both wheels should turn the same way (with my cressida anyway)

that is right, the Honda LSD is a helical Torsen LSD, not clutch pack LSD...
