Review:
The day started with me rocking up at the workshop at about 9:50 AM. Adrian & Ash weren't there yet and I wasn't sure I was at the right place because there were no signs. So I SMSed Richy & Perry and I was assured by them I was at TODA Australia. Next thing I know, I see them driving in and this is where the excitement begins.
Adrian does a base run and I get approximately 106 kW at the wheels on his dyno. While removing the stock ecu, we discover that I actually had a Unichip attached to it! Adrian snipped it off, re-soldered the wires, did another run on the dyno and got 108 kW. The Unichip robbed 2 kW! Anyone want to buy a Unichip?
Then it was tuning time! He noticed how insanely rich my car was running after the base runs, the massive amount of smoke quickly filled the carpark. So he was on a mission to fix that up.
Some time after having lunch with Richy and his little brother, Adrian noticed something was wrong. The car was making a lot of noise, but it wasn't making any power. So he checked the ignition timing and I advised him my car had received the Hannys cam trick. I explained to him how it was done and he quickly started the job of resetting the cam gears back to 0 as he thinks it will run better. He was right.
As you can see by the graph, the midrange has been bumped big time with the help of VTEC kicking in approximately 1000rpm earlier. It feels like I have so much VTEC! Top end has been improved as well and you can definitely feel the pull as the revs climbs to the new redline of 8600rpm.
Thanks:
- Adrian for working on my car the whole day! It wasn't really supposed to take that long but he worked his magic.
