Loose dipstick

Hey guys
just found that my oil dipstick is a bit loose
obviously this isn't too good but is this anything to get worried about?

DC2R right.
Yeah ive known a few ppl who had this problem.
Simply needs some new loctite or whatever it is that holds it in place.
Nothing to get worried about.

Just wondering... are you at all leaking oil from it?

not sure, have the heat shield on so can't see the actual hole that well, but the dipstick reading's been constant and theres none on my garage floor so if its leaking it wouldn't be much

sometimes the dipstick gets blownout due to excessive crankcase pressure,

which might be attributed to a problem in your PCV system...

you will see evidence of this at the base of the dipstick tube, use a torch to check if there is any black sludge built-up...

yeah happens to mine. pull the dipstick out and the holder comes out too. annoying!.Put a O-ring on it just to help seal it. not sure how effective it is but I could not think of any other solution. Seems that my oil consumption has increased.

Just checked with a torch... theres no leaks or anything suspicious in there so i guess i'll just leave it alone for now

also kinda unrelated but do you guys notice one side of the dipstick is usually easier to read or is it just me being crazy.

You reassess the effectiveness (or otherwise) of any aftermarket catch-can setup...

Usually arises due to a failed Cusco catch-can install attempt... this can be corrected by routing the correct crankcase lines to the right places...

However, if just running stock Positive Crankcase Ventilation ("PCV") system, then check the lines from the intake manifold and also the PCV valve itself for correct functionality...

i always check both sides of my dipstick, neither side is any easier to read???

My dipstick has become really really loose after many different 'expert' mechanics saying "it goes in this way"

It swings around now and hits the heat shield.

Any idea how to fix it?

Do I need a new dipstick assembly?

Do it need to remove the heat shield to pull it out?

get some sellys weld adhesive, it's like jb weld. Put some at the base and it will hold it in place nice and tight.

Get the weld that holds up to high temps, it's like a putty.
